El Nopal — Restaurant in Louisville

Tonight 19 Residents of Swan Point HOA went to El Nopal Blankenbaker @ 1610 Kentucky Mills Dr Louisville, KY 40299

Our servers tonight were Jose and Fernanda. You could tell that these 2 loved working at el Nopal. They worked really hard tonight. El Nopal has a huge menu and it has so many different items. Just about every person in our group chose a different entree or a la carte or combination dinner. (They also have a Lunch Menu.) My friends also have varying tolerance of heat levels!! Ordering drinks went quickly and they were brought out just as fast. Part of the group had gotten there early and already knew what they wanted, so it worked out great that Jose started at the end of the long row of tables to take orders and by the time he got to the other end, all of the orders were placed. Jose had the funniest sense of humor. We really enjoyed him. Fernanda was there every minute keeping us with drink refills and extra items. David, the Manager was checking in on us and seeing how we were doing. He’s been there for a long time, and was such a nice man. The owner of the restaurant is Victor Hernandez. To surprise me, Jose brought his entire staff out and they put a very heavy authentic sombrero on my head and sang feliz cumpleaños to me as they sat a plate of Sopapillas- Fried flour tortillas drizzled with honey and chocolate, sprinkled with cinnamon sugar, topped with whipped cream and a cherry. It seems this restaurant is for Hispanics only. I would rather them say that than just treat us like we are peasants.

I took my son for his bday (4 children in total) one toddler and one infant. We sat down in a fairly empty restaurant, within 20 mins it starts filling up. The large party that sat way after us was served and almost finished their meals, & still nothing for us. People literally sat after us, ate & left. The waiter finally came and mumbled something and no one understood what he said and he never came back.

All we ordered was nacho fajitas, a kids chicken/rice & side order of rice. Super complicated right. And thankfully my infant & toddler were sooo good and more patient than I was. After waiting an hour, I knew this was about race at this point and didn’t trust them with my food if that’s how you treat others with different backgrounds. Everyone in the restaurant had been served. When I went to leave & pay for dip, they said not to worry and they the kitchen was behind.

How does a large party who sat 20 mins after we did get served before our SMALL order? No update, apologies, nothing. Worse experience ever! And a big waste of time.

Outloop location 5/11/2025 Party of 12, 4 of which was served and had finished before the other 6 had been served. When I asked for a manager I was told there wasn't one. By the time the next round of food came out I sent mine back and refused to take it. Eventually a waitress came by and ask if everything was ok.I told her no and ask her how she thinks the young teen age girl at the end of table felt watching the other 10 people eating and finishing eating when she had not been served.of the 12 each of us covered our individual bills.When i went to pay for my spouses meal I said i didnt think I should have to pay anything but if I did I wanted the managers phone number.Suddenly there was a "manager". I asked if she thought this was exceptible and she replied no.I asked what she was going to do about it and she answered nothing. I won't be back she said fine.They didn't even remove my softdrink charge.Zero customer satisfaction. I really liked this place in the past but now I have black listed it as places I refuse...
