Friend's PERUVIAN CULINARY — Restaurant in Louisville

This is a great place to get a taste of Peruvian food in Louisville. The first time we went it was about a month after their grand opening , the food was great! We had quite a few dishes, drinks, and conversation. Both my husband and I are native Peruvians and it’s amazing when we can find a place that reminds us of home. So can’t complain about the food the first time!

We went back last week on a Saturday at around 3 pm, there wasn’t anyone in the restaurant, so the service should have been speedier. The service took a bit but since most things are made a la carte, we didn’t think much of it. We ordered a couple of different plates, had the same drinks, and we had a couple desserts. I ordered a papa rellena as an appetizer and it was good. My entree was a Bisteck a lo Pobre (Steak with a sunny side up egg, fries, fried plantain) and it was lacking to say the least. The meat has no seasoning, the rice no garlic or salt and it was mushy. I ate a bit as to not be ungrateful for the food but didn’t finish it. The dessert wasn’t anything extraordinary.

Service was great, and they are very clearly happy to have a restaurant space (previously there was only a food truck). Just know there's not a lot of space to sit inside - I think there were only chairs for maybe 20 people?

I tried Inca Kola, causa de pollo, and lomo saltado. A heads up on the causa de pollo - it's mashed potatoes and chicken salad type mix served cold. I didn't know what to expect when I ordered it, so the temperature was a surprise to me. Like I said though, everything tasted fantastic. I look forward to coming back to try more...

Friends Peruvian Culinary is a wonderful place that makes you feel at home from the moment you walk in.
