This started as a good experience, but after some time things started going downhill. The facility is regularly dirty with trash and debris everywhere. On several occasions the elevator was inoperable which meant I could not access my unit on the third floor. On one occasion I attempted to access my unit and found the main door unsecured, the door to the first floor units unsecured and the elevator inoperable. I left a message and the site manager did contact me to apologize. After asking for a partial refund to make up for it I was eventually told I would receive a 50% credit applied to my account, which was never applied. I generally paid my rent for 2-3 months in advance, but they instituted a policy which required a card be kept on file, which I don’t agree with, but I reluctantly agreed to. The exterior pavement was never plowed when snow fell. In fact, several times the roads were perfectly clear and there was still snow and slush at the buildings access point. While I suppose the building is technically climate controlled, it is hot in the summer months and cold in the winter. I found some of the tools I had stored there were beginning to rust. I would not store anything I felt required true climate control to protect. While your access code has to be entered into two different keypads to gain access to the floor of your unit (when functional) there is not 24 hr access. All keypads lockout access from 10pm to 8 or 9am the next morning. I was switching some items around in my unit one evening. I went in before 10pm, got some items, brought them down and left my phone in my unit with the door unlocked and was unable to go back up to secure my unit and get my phone. I have a business phone as well, but the 24 hr number (which took some searching around the internet to find) is useless as it just connects to an answering service which can do nothing outside taking a message which can be left with the on-site number’s answering machine. Thankfully, nothing was missing when I returned the next day to retrieve my phone and secure my unit. The business is not good about answering the phone and regularly locks the front reception/office door during regular business hours to hide in an interior office and will only come out if you beat on the door to get their attention. This makes it difficult to make rent payments without multiple attempts. I’ve managed to keep my rent paid, but it shouldn’t be this difficult to give someone money. I moved the last of my items out over the weekend and before I could even stop by on Monday morning to let them know I was vacating, I received an email that morning with my “move out receipt”. No phone call to confirm that I was in fact moving out or whether I was just going to put other items in and continue renting. I suppose the rent I paid through the rest of the month is forfeited now. I feel like this business milks the most profit with the least customer benefit. If there is another option available to you, I would urge you to try someone else first. At this expense level, you can most definitely find a...
Read moreGreat facility and with the promotion they have currently online it was hard to pass up. The ease of reserving a unit via the website was impressive. I had an uneasy feeling like it was too easy or too good to be true, expecting something to go wrong or find out on the day I showed up with my U-Haul that there is a catch. Well if there's a catch it hasn't reared it's head. The place is spotless! The staff was very friendly and very helpful as well. Oh yeah, there was a slight surprise, you are required to purchase a lock from them for about $16. That's because the doors are specially designed for those locks. I don't recall seeing that on the website or I just didn't pay close enough attention when reserving the unit. Either way I'm extremely satisfied with the deal I was given, the staff, and the facility itself. If I would have them make any improvements it would be the lighting in the parking lot in the back. It's not extremely dark close to the building but it could use some in the surrounding area, it would make me feel a little better if I needed my fiance' to go there...
Read moreUPDATE: Reference original message from 2 years ago below. My rent has increase approximately 50% per month from 3 years ago. The interior side entrance is STILL broken. Rent has continued to increase without any improvements or changes to the facility, other than the brand label is now "Public Storage" instead of "Simply Storage".
The facility is decent although the interior side entrance has been broken for several months. This company definitely loves receiving money. In 8 months they have increased my rental rate twice. The first time by 13% and starting January 1 a second increase of 12%. My rent is now up 27% from what I was paying 8 months ago. They say it's due to increased utility and operational costs, yet the facility operates with little to no staff present. It's a secured facility with keypad access. I live less than a mile from the facility and my utility costs at home have hardly increased. That leaves me to speculate the increase is simply to pad their bottom line and...
