I'm deeply disappointed to share my recent experience with Heine Brothers Schnitzelburg/Germantown location. While I've always enjoyed their beverages, I can no longer support a business that prioritizes profits over the well-being of its employees. It has come to my attention, through word of mouth of another employee (who I will not name, as I fear for their employment being on the line for this also), that Heine Brothers has a troubling practice of wrongfully terminating employees who seek proper coverage for their shifts due to illness, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic.
It is alarming to learn that employees who responsibly take time off when sick, especially with a contagious virus like COVID-19, are met with termination rather than support and understanding from their employer. This sends a clear message that Heine Brothers values their bottom line more than the health and safety of their staff and customers.
No employee should ever feel pressured to work while ill, especially in an environment where they handle food and beverages. By punishing those who prioritize their health and the safety of others, Heine Brothers is creating a toxic work culture that puts everyone at risk.
I cannot in good conscience support a company that would rather have its employees work sick around food and beverages than allow them to stay home and rest. I have never worked for a company that has put my well-being and livelihood at risk, as well as the health of my customers at risk by being forced to work over other people's sustenance. I cannot describe this as anything other than a biological hazard and "disturbing" doesn't even come close to describing this practice they have set in place.
I have been a loyal customer to several locations of Heine Brothers for years. However, until Heine Brothers demonstrates a genuine commitment to the well-being of its employees, I will be taking my business elsewhere. I will also be urging my friends, family and colleagues to do the same and I WILL BE cross posting this review to multiple platforms to allow consumers to be fully knowledgeable of the company they are supporting. Consumers should be aware of what this company does behind closed doors to the very people that keep customers smiling and returning time and time again. This company must not know that you should not bite the hand that feeds you. And without your friendly and upbeat employees, you would have no customers. You would be nothing. And if you continue these disgusting practices of causing employees to fear that they are one illness away from unemployment, you are guaranteed a fast track, one way ticket to just that. You will be NOTHING.
I will also take the time to echo the sentiment of the other most recent review and urge you to take your patronage to another local, small business. I would recommend Bean coffee shop for starters if you need a personal suggestion. As far as I am concerned, they treat their employees with dignity, respect, and like human beings serving the public. Not farm animals, serving a corporation and lining the pockets of the greedy who don't believe in allowing the sick to rest and recuperate so they may continue to thrive for...

Read moreI came in the other afternoon for a small coffee after running some errands all day, and it was a genuinely crazy to me that it seemed a few of the baristas were feeling/looking really under the weather. It’s concerning that they were even made or allowed to work their shift if they were so noticeably feeling under the weather and then tasked to make customers’ FOOD and DRINKS still!!! While there, I asked if one of my favorite baristas I had become acquainted with from my frequent visits was there so I could say ‘hey.’ Come to find out, they had been fired for their lack of attendance due to recently catching covid. It’s legitimately insane to me that the Schnitzelburg Heine Bros are firing their employees for being conscious about their health and the health of others, and then forcing other, obviously sick, employees to continue to work. I’m so frustrated for the workers there, and and to all the people who are being affected by the obviously poor management that’s going on over there. To be honest, I’m not sure if or when I’ll be going back to Heine Bros, ESPECIALLY to...
