Was my first time there with my gf who works next to the restaurant and she’d been there several times and wanted to take me because she knows I like good Mexican food. It looked understandably somewhat busy as it was Friday evening so waiting for someone to seat us wasn’t a problem. We were seated after a cpl minutes and then a girl brought some chips and salsa (they did bring 2 bowls, a mild and a hot, which was nice and not what I’m used to) but then that’s where the service ended. We waited and waited for someone to come to our table but no one ever did. While waiting for our server another woman got seated at the table next to us, a few minutes after we were seated and still waiting, and had her margarita served pronto (maybe she was a regular, idk) and we still hadn’t even had anyone come wait on us to take our drink order. At this point I’m thinking I’m going to have to get up and walk to the bar just to order a draft beer. SMH We finally have to ask one of the many waitresses walking by if we could get someone to please acknowledge we were there and order a drink and some food. Finally they get someone to come to our table after there was obviously some confusion as to who was supposed to be waiting on our table, a problem I’ve never experienced before in any Mexican restaurant I’ve ever eaten in. Waiter takes our drink order and we go ahead and order the food while he’s there with pen and pad in hand. She orders some kind of big burrito which was big and had plenty of queso cheese and a sweet tea. I ordered the seafood enchiladas with rice and beans and a 22 oz. domestic beer. She seemed to like her burrito as it was her go-to order. Her tea was weak and really watered down. My seafood enchiladas were decent considering it was the store bought fake crab meat and a few cut up shrimp but it was smothered in some kind of sauce, not queso, that I didn’t care for. I was starving at that point, so I was eating it. The rice was plain - no carrots, peas, onions - not like I’m used to having it at my place down home. The beans were runny and not thick. It just seemed to me they take they’re cutting corners and taking the cheap way out. I did like the Cinco de Mayo shirts but the food and service is the bottom line. I honestly wasn’t very impressed...
Read moreMy family and I decided to try this restaurant based off of the high rating they received on Google reviews; however, my experience was probably a 2, and I'm being generous. My boyfriend's food was cooked incorrectly so he informed the waiter and the waiter became argumentative and insisted that it was the way he ordered it. I had to interceed on my boyfriend's behalf because the waiter behaved as if he didn't want to return the food to the kitchen and cook it correctly. My boyfriend is allergic to this particular food and I specifically listened to him place his order so he wouldn't end up in the hospital later that night . Once I inform the server of this, the waiter picks up the plate and walks away. Then, I go to make my fajitas that I was anticipating being delish, but NO, they are burned - burned so bad they are stuck to the platter and most of the meat is rock hard. I motion for a server and a lady server comes over. I show it to her and she takes the plate away. A few mins later, the manager comes out and apologizes. He even recognizes there is hardly any customers in the restaurant and there is no reason they should be burned like this. I thank him and continue to munch on chips to try to curb my appetite some. I finally get my fajitas meat platter and they were good, but by this time the beans and rice I would normally put on them is cold. I decide to just let it go. It seemed like the server then avoided us - as we only received one drink refill and it was at the end of the meal - my boyfriend had to ask for his and I never got one. The server never came and inquired to see if we needed anything at all. Then, we waited at the table for about 20 mins after we finished our food just to get our check. Very disappointed in the...
Read moreMy friend’s favorite Mexican place is Pina Fiesta. I’ve never been there because it’s off Dixie Highway and it’s far from where I live. However I really wanted to spend time with a friend and be in a low-key atmosphere. So I made the trek, I drove out to Dixie Highway. Now the sign is a bit washed out so you may pass by the restaurant on your way there. The building is light blue and there is a food truck outside selling Cuban pizzas. We were quickly seated when we arrived. We chose to sit outside. The location was comfortable and there was some covering so that way the sun would not make it too hot inside the seating area. We were quickly brought chips and salsa always a good sign when you’re at a Mexican restaurant. We also got some queso. It was very good. It was the perfect compliment to the chips. The vegetarian menu was on the very back of the menu and they had a great combination of options. There were things that I have seen at other places, but there were things that were completely new to me. I ended up getting the vegetarian quesadilla, which contained a great number of veggies. She got a chicken chimichanga. It also looked very tasty. Our meals came out quickly and they were very hot. This was the most delicious option I’ve had at a Mexican restaurant as a vegetarian! Even the rice was good! For hot sauce, they had my favorite, Yucateca on the tables. This was an excellent experience, I know something that will take me back out to Dixie Highway-...
