We decided to stop by this place while in the area, as a friend had recommended it. As Cuban Canadians with over 10 years of experience in the service industry, we’re quite familiar with authentic Cuban cuisine and what good customer service should look like.
Our first visit was on August 8th. The food was decent, but I ordered a latte, and the server brought it to our table, mentioning she had added two sugars because I hadn’t specified my preference. I don’t take sugar in my coffee, which is why I didn’t request any. When the latte was remade, it tasted like burned coffee—unfortunately, the worst latte I’ve ever had.
On our way back to Canada, also on August 9th, we decided to give the place a second chance. This time, the experience was even worse. We ordered the same dish as the previous day, but the food tasted old, as if it had been reheated. We only ordered one plate to share since I wasn’t very hungry. However, the service was slow—10 minutes after the food arrived, the server finally brought the extra plate, utensils, and the juice we had ordered with the meal. Meanwhile, she served another table that arrived after us.
Overall, this experience was far below our expectations. I’m giving it one star because that’s the lowest Google reviews allow. If you’re new to town or just passing through, this is not the place to experience good Cuban food or...
Read moreCame down to Louisville for a weekend trip and tried this yummy little restaurant... We tried a variety of foods - Cuban sandwich, tamale, potato ball (I don't know the actual name), croquetta (don't know if that spelling is right lol but it is fried dough with ham in it), and pastries... We had cafe con leche and mango juice to drink. We paid less than $30 for it all. Everything was delicious, especially when dipped in the green sauce they brought us. We came close to closing time and they were still very accommodating, they didn't rush us at all and gave excellent customer service. There was a little bit of a language barrier but they went out of their way even using Google translate to make sure we were getting what we ordered. Isis took great care of us and was super friendly! The restaurant itself is older and the decor pretty basic, but everything was clean. If you're looking for some delicious authentic Cuban food while in Louisville I recommend checking out...
Read moreWe've been here 4x since reading the New York Times article that mentioned it. The first time we dined in for Sunday breakfast. Other than not having Splenda for the coffee, everything was delicious. We had the breakfast combo of coffee and scrambled eggs with ham/Swiss cheese and a side of bacon and buttered toast (bread is made fresh there). It also comes with vegetables, but we opted out of the veggies.
The following 3x we've picked up to go; 1x for Sunday breakfast (omelet sandwich combo and a scrambled eggs combo); 2x more picking up breakfast during the week. At least during the week, they don't open until 10am, which considering they serve breakfast, was kind of weird to me, but worth waiting.
They also serve pastries and lunch and prepare party trays.
This is one of my go-to places right now. Granted, I've only had the scrambled eggs, toast, and coffee, but it has been...
