Four girlfriends were in town for Derby weekend. Wild Eggs came highly recommended so we went expecting a wonderful breakfast. Even though they were very busy it seemed we waited an unusual length of time after ordering for our food to be served.
We had several bad experiences during our visit. I ordered the poached eggs and lox on a bagel. The eggs, Hollandaise and potatoes arrived cold. Our server took the cold dish away. Another server came by and questioned me about why I sent it back. I found it insulting when she asked if I knew the lox and tomato were intended to be cold. I assured her that as a chef I was aware of that but I expected the eggs, sauce and potatoes to be hot. What happened to customer being right and why was I made to feel I had to justify to her why I was sending I back? I had already told our server why. This was the appropriate time for a manager to identify himself/herself to discuss the issue but that did not happen.
When it came time to pay our bills two of the four were paid in cash. I find it to be very poor taste when a server assumes any extra money is intended as a tip and says, "you don't need your change, do you?" That was said to one of us. She then stunned us all by asking another of our party, "you don't want your jingle change, do you?" We were so taken aback the response was "no" but then we realized the "jingle change" was $0.96. Seemed very presumptuous to all of us.
Unfortunately the server's actions left a very poor taste in our mouths. I've always said great service can overcome even mediocre food but poor service always leaves you with an unpleasant taste in your mouth. All in all the whole experience ruined our much anticipated breakfast at a restaurant rated #2 in the Louisville area. I cannot recommend...
Read moreOur party arrived as they were not very busy, 1 person waiting and many empty tables. We had a party of 8, 4 of them kids. We were told that they were âjust gonna push a couple tables togetherâ there was 1 person sitting in waiting area. 25 minutes later they got busy, we watched party after party arrive and be seated before us. Our neighbors were also there, already seated when we arrived. They told me later there were several tables near them that parties of 4 were sat at. These people all arrived after us. When I went back to the desk the same girl that told me she was going to push a couple tables together acted like I was crazy for even asking why it was taking so long. When I spoke to the manager he didnât care, made excuses for the employee. When I told him what she said and if it was going to be that long then she should say it would be 30 minutes or however long, he asked me where I wanted him to put us in a sarcastic tone. I told him I didnât care that we have a party half of which are children and should have been sat by now. Again he showed no interest in what I was saying, so before I made a scene I told our party we were leaving. Then all of a sudden he had a table all ready for us. We left and will not be returning. I have had brunches there with neighbors, corporate visitors taken to breakfast, work vendor meetings, etc at this place none of those will happen here again either. The food is good, but not good enough to get attitude and poor service from the staff. Take your business where it is...

Going on a Sunday meant we didn't have quite as wonderdul a customer service, but the servers were busting their tails keeping people fed and in beverages of their choice. I highly suggest online reservations or call ahead if you go on a Sunday.

My mom and I went to Wild Eggs so I can get Eggs Benedict, which I had been craving. Our server Sean (Shawn) was attentive and helpful. I ordered the crab eggs Benedict. There was a great deal of crabby goodness. Sean made sure my mom had her pot of decaf, and I was overly watered and caffeinated. He made some great suggestions (coffee of the day was like drinking Nutella and a heavenly surprise.)
My mom ordered a cinnamon roll and was annoyed that it was $8 - until it came out. That thing was the size of a young child's torso! My eggs came with a muffin and potatoes in addition to 2 poached eggs, English muffin, and 2 crab patties. There was so much food, we couldn't eat everything!
When I visit Kentucky again, You can bet your best duds that I'll go back...
