Hey guys. Trying a must-go local company here in Belmont, NC. The home to backwoods BBQ. Went to Kyle Fletcher's with family and ordered take out. With COVID 19, companies are trying to protect their employees and patrons but upon picking up food, their employee was not wearing a mask when she asked who pick up was for and no mask again, deliveringfood...Hmmmm. I thought State of North Carolina had an ordinance for wearing masks....Well, back to the food, ordered 5 meals. Here we go. First was a full slab of ribs, hush puppies, coleslaw, baked beans and fries with side onion rings. The ribs were dry rubbed with BBQ sauce on the side. The ribs were tender with lil fat and juicy. Not over done. The sauce was tangy, tomato based with definitely vingear and hint of heat, was good too as well. French fries were regular frozen fries, then fried, no salt and disappointing. The baked beans were amazing...sweet and tangy with house sauce and tender boston beans, a must try. The coleslaw, ummm did not look appealing. It was a pinkish tone, lots of vinegar and onion. Definite a no go. The hush puppies tasted fresh, made of cornmeal. The other meal was same but with half rack. Each meal is coleslaw, hush puppies, and french fries. Tried the pulled pork...wow, juicy, meaty and not pulled really. More of chunks. Definitely tender, a must have too. Ordered kids chicken tenders, frozen then fried, were dried out. Unappealing to my 19 month old daughter. Next was sliced pork. It was a pork tender loin, disappointing. It was dry as a bone...not enough bbq could save it. The seasoning on it was peppery too. A no go, better choices on menu. The best for last was the onion rings...sliced thinly and lighty battered then fried. Probably hand dipped. Very tasty on the tongue but lacked salt. So, there you have it $63 for 5 meals. A ton of food, so if you're looking for something different and looking to support local businesses, give them a shot. I'd say a B. Until next time friends, remember, enjoy...
Read moreThe BBQ at Kyle Fletcher's is amazing western NC style BBQ - just remember to BRING CASH. When dining in they give you generous portions of BBQ and side items. The restaurant is in an old building that's quite small, but it's in buildings like this where you find the best BBQ. The fat content in their chopped BBQ is really low. This makes a huge difference when you reheat your leftovers. High fat content leads to greasy reheated BBQ but you won't have that problem here - just heat and eat! Their smoked sliced turkey is also really good - tender with a nice smokiness to it. The only item that I don't like at Kyle Fletcher's, and the main reason I gave them four stars instead of five, are the ribs. They are terrible. The first time I tried a $13 half rack I thought they were awful with way too much fat, way too little meat, and not enough seasoning. Working through all the fat to find those tiny smidges of meat is not even close to being worth it. The other menu items are so good that I thought the bad ribs had to be a fluke so I tried them a second time. I was disappointed when I realized they were just as bad, and maybe even fattier, than the first time. Kyle Fletcher's does not accept credit/debit cards. It's a cash only establishment so that's the reason for the reminder above to bring cash. Recently switched phones and lost my pictures...
Read moreBeing the Republican that I am, I say this place is pretty good. My food came out after 3-4 other tables that were sat 5-10 minutes after me and that was confusing. I guess they cater to the regulars first and seeing how this was my first time here, it was obvious. The flavor was ok. The slaw is a 5/10. The turkey was a 8/10. The service was a 8/10 because the waitress served all other tables that were sat after me first. The baked beans were good. The place is dated. The drinks are supplied ice via a cooler in the front. It is very country and very basic but in todays world I think it’s best we GET BACK TO THE BASICS. I’m not a nice reviewer but I’m honest. If you look at segregation everywhere you go and are easily offended by segregation then maybe you shouldn’t go here because you will confuse country and basic with racist. I’ve read the other reviews stating this place is racist because they weren’t served quickly and didn’t receive their food in order and IM WHITE AS CAN BE and didn’t receive my food in an appropriate time or in the order I arrived so it doesn’t have to do with RACE! I saw a diverse mix of customers and didn’t see anything racist here. We are all a little racist and some more than others. It’s normal and it is the truth. I don’t have to like you and you don’t have to like me but you...
