Visiting the Mechanicsburg area; live in Florida. A family matter trip. Before I began narrowing down hotel choices, Marzoni’s was topping the list of eateries. Sadly, my area of FL lacks good brick oven pizzerias that actually have a real craft beer menu.
On the food: exactly as I had anticipated. The wings, and because of Covid, were delivered to the table with a perfect blend (special request and fulfilled because they were not especially busy) of their hot AND garlic treatments (the menu I viewed only showed a boneless version but my server offered a bone-in version; quantities differ between the two versions; negligible by my reckoning). Big shout out to my server, Karina, and my hostess, Jaime! These professionals provided such a satisfying food and service experience! I opted for the 8” pizza with 3 toppings. Marzoni’s also offers a 10” cauliflower crust. I did not clarify if their other size options could be made with this alternative crust. Moving on, the wings came first followed by the pizza some 10 minutes later. After a small taste test, I elected to grind a bit of salt on the slice I was eating (I know my palette and only salt according to my tastes) and from the first bite to the last I enjoyed a very delicious pizza meal.
On the beverage selection: Craft brewing is quite a claim to make. I am unclear if they brew their own recipes. I am clear on their offerings. I am a consumer of IPAs. At the time, their menu offered two varieties. To my delight, the Avalanche IPA (ABV 7.5%; no bitterness ratings available) was in stock and proved the most flavorful beverage choice. The establishment also offers a wide range of beverages typically found in such establishments.
Overall take on service and atmosphere: made this FL boy feel right at home. Karina and Jaime are gracious hosts and excellent reps for their brand and style. I don’t travel north from FL much, because, you know, COLD!!! That said, I would make consecutive return trips to the wonderfully small-town-vibe that is Mechanicsburg, in addition to the family in the area, to continue to experience Marzoni’s.
On the building: by my reckoning, the dining area appears to be pushing around 2000 sq. ft. under climate control. While not brimming with customers at the time of this review, I imagine that on a packed night customers would not feel packed packed like a bunch of sardines, etc. Large and convenient parking; located on a loop road ringed with quality hotels less than a minute from a US Hwy 15 interchange
Unverified: bar area
Overall: I am very satisfied with the entire experience. Thank you Karina, Jaime and the entire staff for a...
Read moreThe food we had was very good, but unfortunately was balanced out with very poor service.
Right off the bat we had a waitress that declared she had "nothing to do" so she stood at our table for several minutes pushing us to order. We had never been here before, it is a brewery and has a lengthy menu. Several of our party enjoy beer and intended to read the descriptions to pick out what we wanted, but the awkward pushyness of the waitress left two of us just getting regular drinks, and 2 of us just quickly picking something from the list. A similar experience happened with the food order as she stood there for upwards of 3-4 minutes as we tried to digest the menu and make a decision. Again, we made one in haste as she grew increasingly impatient.
We then had to ask 3 separate times to exchange plates at our table because we were brought dirty ones, we ordered pizza and had to flag her down in order to get non appetizer plates that would actually FIT a piece of pizza on it...without one apology. Instead she chose to blame company policies and other people for the missteps. She even at one point snipped to my husband that she shouldn't have to inspect every plate before she brings it out, to which my husband replied 'well I certainly shouldn't have to.' After having to get a third plate because we were brought another that had dried food on it, my husband needed another mountain dew. Even though she asked what he wanted before refilling the drink, the waitress brought him a ginger ale (one is artificially bright yellow, the other a much darker golden color. In my opinion it seemed like a passive aggressive slight). As she grew increasingly impatient with us wanting clean and proper tableware, she began to disappear and simply set new drinks on the corner of the table where no one was sitting and walk away.
More trivial details were also poor, for instance instead of walking to the other side of our table to hand my mother in law her drink, she reached and leaned over my one year old son to hand it to my father in law to give to his wife (for the first drink and every refill after that). Definitely more trivial then the rest, as I said, but just added to the abysmal service.
The food was excellent and the manager we spoke to was very kind. She offered multiple times to give us something to make up for the poor service, which we appreciated the offer but was not what we were after so we declined. It's a shame the service was so poor, otherwise my rating would be...
Read more6 months ago..This was a 5☆☆☆☆☆ post! There was a small wait to get a table but it wasn't horrible. We went on a Saturday night. We tried a kids cheeseburger meal, chicken parmesan and chicken alfredo (no picture). The cheese and fries were a hit. The chicken parmesan and the chicken alfredo were delicious! As for the chicken parmesan, this one meal would feed me for 4 days. The chicken breast is huge and the marinara was delicious.
Updated We went here last night 8/23/19 they only get 1 ☆ because the ladies that greeted us were very polite. We went out for a celebration dinner and chose Marzoni's. We had a small wait for a table, not an issue because we know how delicious the food it. In my small group, we had 2 adults and 1 child. We were sat at a high top, not a problem, but it was right under the air vent, it w as very cold. We waited for the waitress, Brooklyn, for over 10 minutes then she walked by us, and without looking at us she said, "I'll be with you in a minute". Then she waited on a 6 top with all men (I get it, higher bill and maybe a tip or flirt). She then went out to the patio, next she went to the back. Another 10 min or so goes by and she finally gets to our table. Knowing how long it took her to come to our table, I could only imagine that it would be a long time to get our drinks and our food. We left after being at the restaurant about 40 minutes. We went somewhere else where we were sat quickly and our server was at our table asking for our drink order within 2 minutes. We had our meal within 15 minutes at another busy restaurant. I consider us as good tippers, anywhere between 20 and 30% and our bill (we had plenty if time to look at the menu) would have been around $80. I dont know how the servers sections are set up here, I know they were busy, when aren't they? In this particular situation, maybe the section was to big, too many tables or maybe the stress of the job was too much for this particular server. Not sure we will be back or not, dis not feel like a...
