Glen's Frozen Custard — Restaurant in Lower Burrell

I absolutely LOVE Glens. It’s the only custard I eat. It’s ruined me for ice cream. I live within walking distance of the lower Burrell location. Between myself and my children we are there at least twice a week. With that said every time someone in my family goes there they grab me a pint of my favorite ice cream. Everytime the staff will say “ oh we are out , or I don’t think we have any”, they walk away to check then they come back and say “ we are out, I would have to pack it for you and it will take a long time”. Every time they say this like it’s the worst possible thing in the world and whoever is asking for a pint that has to be packed is actually asking them scrub the toilet with their own tooth brush. So in reality they are not out they just have scoop maybe 4 scoops into a container instead of grabbing it from a freezer. So we should just start asking for 5 scoops of custard in a bowl instead of a pint? The kids that use to work there always packed pints in their free time, if they were out they gladly packed the ice cream and we were on our way. This spring has been nothing but attitude, not 1 time has their been pre packed pints, and Everytime we are treated like we are the worst for MAKING THEM PACK THE PINTS. These new kids DONT WANNA WORK FOR THEIR MONEY. So this eveing my son walked to Glens , this is what brought me the leave a review. The girl that waited on him gave him attitude ( he’s 11) about packing a pint of ice cream, after stating “ well I have to pack it so you will have to wait”. Well he said ok because he’s not gonna come home with something for himself and not bring his mother her favorite Custard when she’s buying. My son counted 28 people were waited on and received their orders, before his order was completed. It does not take more then 2 minutes to pack 1 pint or even 5 pints. It saddens me to give only 5 stars because I know Glens is better then this.

I wanted to make a correction, a girl named Kimly is the only person that does not give family or myself attitude when we ask for a pint and she has to pack it on her own. My son stopped by since I left my review and he reminded me that Kimly is always very friendly AND HAPPY TO PACK UP SOME...

This review has nothing to do with the yummy goodness this place produces! This actually hurts me to give glens 3 stars but the staff is not getting any better (with the exception of a few people, honestly the young men that work there are hard respectful workers, I wish knew names, but I don’t) Iv held out hoping thinking the slackers would be weeded out last summer. I was wrong. Let me start by saying I understand everyone is short staffed and it’s the end of the season. With that said this is not a reflection of that…..

Last Thursday there was a very long line, I like 5th in line , there were 2 groups in front of me with 3-4 people in them the rest were 1-2 people. So let’s say at the very least 8 orders in front of me. Actually working was 1 poor soul taking and filling orders, 1 person cleaning up the parking lot. Then 3-4 employees in the background not doing much to help their coworkers. I get it it’s the end of the night you want to go home your over it, so help out instead of prolonging it. Finally it was my turn after a 20 minute wait ( my son was waiting in the car he kept track) and now there were 2 people taking orders, 1 more customer behind me. I asked for pints. The first thing I was told “ we are out”. See I know they are not out, I know these girls tell people this to get out of packing ice cream. Which I don’t understand, if they would paxk it in there down time it would make their shifts go by faster!!!! There use to always be a stock of packed pints until 2-3 years ago. I said “ it’s still on the board, I can wait for it to be packed “. All the sudden they have!!!! “ but not much” So I say “ill take whatever you have left”. Now I can clearly through the window the tube she is packing from, it’s like ahhhh………… 85% full (not much??? Really). I did not say a word I said wanted to see if my ordered was fulfilled completely. Guess what it wasnt, she left out 2 pints. So instead of getting rid of the stock for winter you are going to lie to the customer to get out what working? I went back today, and the sweetest young man packed 2 pints without making me feel like I was asking him to clean my toilet with his own tooth brush. Ps that same tub was...

I don't particularly care for the staff. They are all extremely young, and the manager appeared to be about 16-18 years old herself. I ordered fries with cheese(shredded cheese instead of nacho cheese). They literally threw raw cold shredded cheese on my fries and did not melt it whatsoever. When confronted, they gave the excuse that they don't have a oven. Really?🤔 That's the only full service restaurant I know that doesn't have a oven. I'll pass on the fries with unmelted shredded cheese. I also don't care for their veggie burgers. Burger King has much better veggie burgers (morning star 🌟) which is a very tasty line of veggie meat. My only major complaint is that their entire staff are all teenagers or very young adults. There never appears to be a mature adult in site. Although all the girls are nice, there is a sense of immaturity...
