After ordering food many times and enjoying it. I ordered delivery. The food did not come after 3 and one half hours. The owner of the restaurant took no responsibility. He then refused calls. He took his phone off the hook. He stopped taking calls from my number. My partner started calling from his phone, and the owner picked right up. Then he started to refuse calls from him. He took the charge from my card. I paid for the food - but he refused to do anything about it or to even hear us out. He simply stopped responding. This is after I had decided to order from local businesses to help fund their stability in the pandemic. A place - this place - with such atrocious and incompetent service does not deserve the investment in their business. A business like this one deserves to not operate. Customers clearly are not something this business cares about. Order elsewhere.

(Abridged after Saffron Kitchen claimed this is a fake review.)

This is not a fake review. The incident occurred in December 2020 and was reported to Grubhub and a complaint/dispute was filed. When told this was being done, the person answering the phone said "do what ever you want." It was an order out of the Bala Cynwyd location. This is a typical tactic of a vendor that has determined that they are not pleased with a review. Just another example of the customer service ethic of this organization. This is not "fake news". Next time do better.

An organization that cares about its customers would say - "I'm sorry to hear about your experience, please contact us, we'd like to know more and we will try to understand what happened and try to do better. " Instead you do the predictable - "nope it didn't happen the customer is a liar."

May all who read this review keep in mind this businesses attitude towards a customer review of poor service to help you determine NOT to go to this place. There are plenty of comparable, quality and less expensive places to dine and hopefully be treated better. I recommend providing financial support to places and businesses that care about the customer experience and treat them with dignity and regard. Vote with your dollars. Your opinion matters. You aren't a liar if you are...

December 2018/June 2019 I've since returned to this place and the food was much better. the service was on point and I was pleased with my meal both times.

June 2018 I have been wanting to go to this restaurant for a while now. I went there with my best friend on my birthday 6/10 and sadly, it was very disappointing. The appetizers were an "A" ( Vegetable Samosa and Onion Bhajia). The service was a "B" . They were attentive, but not welcoming. The entrees were a "D" (Aloo Mutter $13 Potatoes and Peas cooked in a light curry sauce & Fish Curry $18 Tilapia fillet with curry leaves, cumin powder, and dry chilies cooked in the chef's special sauce). I've had curry dishes at other authentic Indian restaurants and the curry sauce is not a tomato based sauce! Both sauces were the same. There was not hint, taste or smell of curry in these sauces whatsoever. I brought it to their attention and they claim that the dish contained curry and offered to re-make my dish, Aloo Mutter over. When returned, the dish was the same. My bestie and I were both disappointed in our entrees and barely touched the entrees, hence a waste of $31! I may returned to get the Onion Bhajia via takeout but that's it. am a vegan with gluten intolerance and there's only so many options when I dine out. Its disappointing when I can't enjoy my meal as it's a...

Saffron is definitely an unexpected gem right on Butler Ave in downtown Ambler. I'm glad that we decided to go in person instead of ordering delivery. We ate right on the street and their presentation was fantastic.

We started with two veggie samosas that were really good (so good, in fact, that I forgot to take Yelp pictures of them). I got the Boti Kabob Masala and added veggies. My girlfriend got Chicken Tikka Masala and a Mango Lassi. We split Aloo Naan and got basmati and raita to share with our main dishes. For ~$80 this was more than enough food.

My favorite part of the meal was that the dishes were served family style in their own bowls and you could mix your dish however you wanted. Everything seemed very fresh and was delicious.

PRO TIP: Sometimes "medium spicy" can be too spicy at an Indian place but the waiter here offered "in between mild and medium spicy" which was just perfect.

Definitely try this place. It's different than the American/Italian...

I loved the ease of ordering online. I love that this place is in my neighborhood. I like to switch it up from Tiffin. I felt like the potato naan was really good. Like really solid. The raita was also very good. Not too wet. Really good rice! The paneer kofta was great! Creamy and smooth, so delicious. The only thing I would change is that I wish the vindaloo was a little bit spicier. I did as I always do ask to "taste the sun". Sometimes it works and I get the spice level I want and other times it doesn't work. There's no good way to ask. It works less in person. Picking up dinner was super easy. I walked in the door and the gentleman inside was very kind and welcoming. He found my order right away and I was off with it. I will add this place to my normal rotation. Thanks for the really solid well priced meal!
