I wouldn't say the best Philly cheese steaks.. But I will say their Philly steak sandwiches are the best I have had since 2014, when I lived in Philly. When I first moved to Lubbock a year ago, I couldn't find a good Philly anywhere. So... I bought ribeye steaks and made them myself. About 7 months after moving to Lubbock, we decided to check out South Plains mall. My family and I were hungry so we walked to the food court and noticed Charley's. Honestly? I didn't set the bar very high. I ordered, took one bite and I have to say.... It was pretty tasty. It's definitely a good sandwich. We have had their sandwiches maybe 3 times since. We aren't really "mall people" and it's kind of an inconvenience to find a parking space at the mall and walk half a mile to the food court just for a sandwich. But... We have actually done that just bc they are so tasty. In my opinion, Charleys would do pretty well in a stand alone shop as well. I don't think they need to be in a mall to survive. But that's my opinion. Oh and whoever made the comment about the one and only dude who always seems to be working the register.... He's not slow at all. Very nice guy, he always understands my orders and he was also the one who made my tasty sandwiches every time I have come in... So I'm not sure what that mean...
Read moreI recently visited the newly opened Charley's ChessStake Restaurant for the first time, and it was a truly refreshing experience. The theme immediately caught my attention – the interiors are stylish, modern, and cleverly decorated with chess-inspired details that make the space feel both playful and classy.
The staff were warm, attentive, and quick to guide me through the menu, which is a nice balance of classic steak subs and some creative twists. I tried their signature steak, cooked exactly to my preference, and it was tender, juicy, and full of flavor. The sides complemented the meal perfectly, and the portion sizes felt generous without being overwhelming.
What stood out most was the atmosphere. It’s lively but not noisy, making it a great place to enjoy food while chatting comfortably. The attention to detail in presentation, service, and taste really showed that the team has put thought into making this a memorable dining spot.
For a new restaurant, Charleys ChessStake has started off strong. It feels like a place that could quickly become a favorite for steak lovers and anyone who enjoys a unique dining theme. I’ll definitely be coming back to try more...

Your response is aggressive and you're attacking a reviewer based off my experience. The only one judging here was you because I do have fast food restaurant experience of 4 years of being in charge of FOH for Chick-fil-A in Tomball,TX. And cfa would never respond to a guest like you have. And regardless if I only spent $10 at your restaurant I had other options but chose Charley's. don't bash someone for only spending a few bucks because I could have chosen any other place .
I usually have a pleasant visit when I visit Charley's in my area (Houston). However, this was my first time at this location due to visiting and the older gentleman that seemed to be running the place was a little passive aggressive. The young man didn't seem to know what he was doing. And the lady making the sandwiches was in lala land. There were a few orders ahead of me and at least 2 of their items were incorrect. I only ordered ultimate fries and regular plain fries. The ultimate fries barely had any...
