I recently visited a new Asian bistro and had mixed feelings about the experience. The food took about 20-25 minutes to arrive, which seemed a bit long given that the menu is small and there were only two other groups ahead of us—one group of two and a family of four.
When the food finally arrived, there were a few issues. My soggy dog sushi roll was missing its sauce so it was plain. Additionally, the spring rolls came out warm, and one of the two employees working came to apologize, explaining that they had "messed up" the spring rolls. They also mentioned that orders don’t have numbers, which led to confusion over who’s food belonged to whom. Interestingly, the family of four didn’t receive their spring rolls either and ended up leaving after receiving a refund.
While I don’t think the issues were entirely the fault of the employees—they were polite and seemed to be doing their best—it was clear that they were understaffed, with only two people working. Unfortunately, there was also an element of unprofessionalism. The employees weren’t in uniforms and were dressed casually, which didn’t quite match the bistro-style vibe of the place. One of the employees even had noticeable hickies on her neck, which might not be ideal for a public-facing role.
On the positive side, the bistro itself had a nice ambiance. The place was clean, with no trash around, and the tables were well-maintained. However, given the service issues and the overall presentation, I’m not sure I’d recommend this spot to friends or...
Read moreThe staff was super friendly so I hate to report a poor overall experience for this newer place. Despite the other reviews, I decided to give this place a chance. We chose to dine in for our visit. I noticed upon entering that the tables were dirty and there was also food debris on the floor.
I was surprised that when I began asking the staff about the menu they had to resort to their "cheat sheet" to advise what was in each sushi roll and bowl. The water was brought to us warm in a small plastic cup with no ice so it was really sorta useless having paid for it as it was really not a pleasure to drink warm water.
We ordered a sushi roll- the Shaggy dog- which was tasty overall but seemed sloppily prepared and was falling apart....I do say it was tasty though! We ordered the Poke bowl (tuna) and the Korean Beef. Both bowls arrived "warm" and were not hot despite waiting for about fifteen minutes for the food. I ended up asking for a lid for mine as The Poke bowl had no flavoring, limited ingredients inside it, and needed to be "enhanced" at home. I was able to salvage mine with some gochujang paste. My dining partner took about ten bites of his and decided to take it home....sadly to throw it away. I did taste it and it seemed to be flavored with some teriyaki! perhaps?!?
I was hoping with such a small menu the restaurant would "WOW" us with killer service and tastieness. The service was super nice but it's a no go for me on the food/cleanliness. Overall, would not visit again or...
Read moreI tried this place with my husband last week. It has a cute laid back vibe and the location is great. We went inside but there is also a drive through that I'll be using when I'm in a hurry.
I think my favorite the spicy chicken bowl. The flavor was on point. It had a little heat and the fried rice was delightful! My husband had the Japanese salad. It had a nice, light sesame ginger dressing over chicken, fresh greens, etc. It was craveable enough he hasn't quit talking about it.
Honorable mentions go out to the chicken skewer (peanut sauce-yum!), crispy stuffed wontons, and the Shaggy Dog sushi roll. Not a single one disappointed!
The prices a great. Most bowls are $8ish to $12 and appetizers were maybe $6 to $8. Sushi is sold by a whole rollls or 1/2 rolls. Staff is friendly, and it is made fresh each day. I'll be trying the pastries and coffees next time I need a sweet treat.
Definitely give this a place a try....
