The only positive is that we actually received a cake to serve for the wedding day. I was very disappointed in the outcome. The cake was supposed to be an entire different color and covered in fondant. We chose the cake out of one of the books they had inside the bakery. It was ordered 2 weeks in advanced. So, ample opportunity to let me know if they couldn't do it. The cake was picked up by a friend due to my mom not being able to pick it up. The cake was lopsided and overall extremely plain. It lacked support as we found upon cutting it and there was one small plastic dowel throughout the entire cake. It was nothing like we wanted. Luckily, we had time to try and spruce it up with some flowers. The topper we provided was given back to us due to the box size not being able to accommodate it. However, upon unboxing the topper there was dried color possibly icing on the bottom of it that matched the color we requested originally. This makes me wonder whether they gave us the wrong cake or scraped the whole idea and didn't let us know. I'm disappointed in the lack of communication and them overall not following through with a plan for the cake. Overall, the couple enjoyed their day and I'm glad we at least had something. Next time I will know to go with a different bakery for a...
Read moreIt's been quite sometime since we visited there. Usually we get there early enough to have breakfast but they changed their hours. We were not impressed with lunch AT ALL. Way to expensive for what we got and not very tasty, certainly not what we've come to expect. As for the pastries I always get at least 2 apple fritters but something has happened to their recipe or something has gone wrong. They were half the size they used to be and almost no apples at all in them. They jacked up their prices, closed on Saturday (which is when we usually visited), and changed their recipes (we weren't impressed with their croissants either). Too bad, a place we loved and have been visiting for over 20 years has now bit the dust. Maybe the changes happened over time and the regulars just didn't see it happening. I will say this, it was the fewest people I've seen there since our very first visit when they were at their previous location. Maybe the regulars DID notice it...
Read moreThis isn't your average bakery. It also has a breakfast and lunch country-style menu consisting of some good-ole country favorites. In addition to the food menu, there is a variety of pastry delights.
I went here during lunchtime and it was packed. The dining area was almost filled to capacity and the lines were long to the food and to the pastries (separate lines). I ordered a (3) veggie vegetable tray to-go and it was only $4. I could tell from the smell the veggies were seasoned well and they were.
I ordered 2 donuts, 1 iced croissant and 1 Bavarian croissant. The Bavarian croissant was my favorite. The filling had the right amount of sweetness without being overly sweet.
