My girlfriend and I had 5 $20 gift cards for Outback. So keep in mind that for these reviews, we didn't even have to pay for our food. (Still tipped at full price though)
Service: Was generally pretty good. Staff were friendly, problems were addressed, etc. Atmosphere: Eh, it's Outback. Of the 3 times we went, there was only a crying baby once. No one was being loud and obnoxious. It was ok. Food: Here's where things break down... Food is not so great, especially given the price. Steak: The Outback Special. It carries their name, and it's SPECIAL. We each ordered one medium rare the first day. Well, they came out medium rare, but we've been lied to everywhere else. Outback considers Medium Rare to be warm and red in the middle. That's correct. But... Not what we were expecting. So we sent it back and it came back medium (Which was our version of medium rare). I felt bad afterwards when I actually looked up medium rare.... They actually prepared the steak properly, but we complained! Doh! This is why we can't have nice things... Anyway, the steak itself was very well seasoned, but not a great cut of meat or something. It was grainy. I didn't much enjoy mine, and she was not too thrilled either, but what the heck, it was free. The next one (seperate visit) she ordered medium, and it was medium well. I think we broke the system. But it was grainy in texture too. Filet foccacia sandwich: Meat on this sandwich is great. The au jus was pretty good. Fries were good. The focaccia sucked, and was way too greasy. Overall, meh. Bloomin onion: Girlfriend loves this... I don't really. I feel like you need 6 people to eat this as an appetizer. Presentation is nice! But... it is a fried food... Normally this sucker is really expensive, too. Salad: No complaints! Shrimp: I love their shrimp. Outback has some good seasonings (Though probably not for the sodium conscious) and those seasonings plus their grill make for some great shrimp. But you won't find shrimp on the menu, except as an accompaniment. Why not?! Shrimp on the barbie? How much more stereotypical cheesy Australian can you get! But no, you have to order it with something, or in salad. Sigh. Food poisoning: We didn't get it, yay! Bread: Love the bread they bring out. Om nom nom. Price: It's definitely on the steep side if you're not using gift cards. Two eat for about $30. Summary: We decided to sell our remaining gift card, go to Kroger and pick up two steaks for $6, some beverages, and go home and cook for ourselves. We'll eat 3 times for what one trip to Outback costs, and the food will be better. Sorry Outback, you've...
Read moreThere were 4 of us. I order the bone-in Tbone steak, the most expensive steak on the menu. I asked for medium. There is a picture in the menu of "medium" and the server reiterated that "medium" is "pink inside with a little red in the middle". This is in fact what I understood medium to be, and this is what I wanted.
After about 20min, all our food came, however my steak was medium well to WELL done, meaning some parts were "grey with a little pink" and other parts were "all grey". I told the server who apologized, and said she would get me another steak. After another 20min, and after my friends had all finished their meals, the manager brought out my 2nd steak and, without much emotion and somewhat coldly, apologized. The second steak was mostly medium well, meaning it was "mostly pink with NO red, and some parts grey and pink". This is NOT medium. So I wonder, how could a professional steak house charging $25 for a steak mess up TWO steaks?
This manager didn't offer even one discount, a free dessert, or anything to make up for the fact his restaurant screwed up TWO expensive steaks. This is extremely unprofessional.
Furthermore, on a previous visit, we had yet another problem - this one involved a 50min wait for our food (the manager told me they were understaffed as a few people had called in sick) and once the food arrived, 2 people's meals were cold (as it had been sitting out waiting on the chefs to finish the entire order). In all fairness, my particular plate was warm and tasted good, but the wait was inexcusable. Again, the manager did not offer anything to make up for the 2 cold meals or the outrageous wait time.
This is a very bad restaurant and waste of time and money. 4 people can eat much better in...
Read more3 nights ago my husband and 2 grown children went to Outback in Lynchburg VA. We ordered our appetizers and the waitress forgot to put in one of our appetizers. That’s ok. Accidents happen. We ate our salads and then our appetizer. 3 of us ordered a full rack of ribs. When the waitress brought the plates to the table she set them down and said she didn’t think they looked like a full rack, but the manager approved the plates and sent them out. I wish I had taken a picture of these 3 plates. Each one had a 1/2 rack and one plate had an additional bone beside it. The other 2 plates had the 1/2 rack and 2 bones beside it. Granted there was meat on these additional bones, but it was so far from being the other 1/2 rack that you would have thought we were being filmed for one of those shows that the joke is on you. We were nice to the waitress. She asked if we wanted to speak to the manager and we said yes. He came over and said I understand you have a problem with your ribs. We said yes and told him that we ordered a full rack. He said let me get some more going for you in the kitchen. When he brought them out, he said I hope you each enjoy your 1 and a 1/2 racks of ribs. Remember, the one plate that had a 1/2 rack with the 1 bone beside it!?!? How passive aggressive can you be!? When the waitress brought the check, she charged us for 3 half racks of ribs instead of for the full racks. As we are pulling out money to pay the bill, do you know that manager made the waitress come over and take away that bill and bring another charging the full amount. Poor poor management and customer service. I see why the parking lot was empty and the restaurant hardly had any customers. We won’t be returning and we use to...
