Disappointed to say the least, I honestly expected the prices to be a tad high, being a BBQ place and family owned and run, however their prices were way higher then even I excepted especially for the portions. When we came in we were cramped by the front door, between the hosted podium and the checkout counter which had a customer paying for his meal, waiting to be seated, as the hostess arrived she was friendly and asked of we preferred a table or booth, we chose a booth. As we walked to our booth, we tried to give room to other customers that were leaving as the inside of the dinning room is rather small, the customers we passed did not look pleased as they were leaving. When we made it to the booth, paper printed menus were already sitting on the table, which left little to the imagination of what we were going to be ordering, we gave our drink orders to the waitress, as we looked over the small and vary limited menu as well as the prices, we were debating on canceling our drink orders and leaving right then, as the drinks were almost $3 by themselves. And then on the back wall of the dinning room was what I thought a sweet sight of pictures of their family, until I noticed the large photo of what apparently was a family member who had passed away staring at us. Feeling bad for the family and wanting to support a local business, decided to give them a chance and ordered our food. We were ask by a 2nd waitress if we needed a refill on our drink right after we received them from our waitress, we weren't asked if we needed any more refills after we received our food. We ordered a side of fries (their fries are crinkle cut, not specified on the menu) A leg quarter with 1 side, and 2 pulled pork sandwiches with Mac and cheese as the side, as I actually wanted just a pulled pork plate however the pulled pork sandwich was way cheaper I requested the meat be placed on the side. Which the waitress happily ablidged. The food didn't take long to get to the table, however my husband's pulled pork was cold, where half of mine was cold while parts were slightly warm, the warm meat did have nice flavor without any sauce however the cold sections tasted more greasy. Our side of Mac and cheese was a 4oz Styrofoam cup, it was hot but bland and needed salt and pepper to have any flavor. The fries were fine like we're generic crinkle cut fries put of a frozen bag, the leg quarter our son ordered seemed to have been cooked days earlier and just kept warm, with little flavor without sauce. The leg quarter plate with the 4oz cup of bland Mac and cheese, was $13!. Well lesson learned. I'd rather buy a whole bag of leg quarters for $8 at our local piggly wiggly. In total for what we ordered Cost $47 not counting the $10 tip. Not speak poorly about the dearly departed, however In my opinion it just felt like we donated the money to the family for the guilt of their lost family member that starred at us the whole time...
Read moreFood was subpar. Only good thing was the Mac n cheese. I ordered pulled pork with Mac n cheese and baked beans. Husband ordered sausage with Mac n cheese. Ordered corn nuggets for an appetizer. Pulled pork was extremely greasy; it’s been five hours since I ate it and my stomach is still hurting from it. Baked beans were definitely bushs baked beans. Sausage was cooked until it was basically jerky; it was so tough and hard to chew on. Had high expectations for this place and it just didn’t meet them. After reading their Facebook saying their sides are homemade and to get canned baked beans really bummed me out. Corn nuggets were just your basic frozen corn nuggets you can get from the store, and they were not good at all.
The service was just not there at all. Was sat down and waited quite a bit for the server to come back and take our order after walking pass us multiple times and making eye contact. Server finally took our order when my husband told them we were ready. Drinks were never refilled either. After being served the food, server never came back until she was ready for us to cash out. We would have told her our displeasure with the food had she come check on us.
After giving us the receipt, we noticed we were being charged for two cups of water; $6 in total. We were shocked to read this and had we not noticed, we would’ve been charged for water. So definitely make sure to check your receipt if you come here.
There were so many servers walking around the place and not doing much. But only one person at the cashier. If you’re paying card, you have to go to the cashier to pay. It would be a lot more convenient and less crowded if the server would take the card up themselves instead of having all the customers wait in a long line.
I hope this new restaurant does well, but if there aren’t any changes, we won’t be back...
Read moreI have been waiting YEARS for Major’s to open again! It has been absolute torture not having their smoky & scrumptious chicken salad whenever I want. The new location is fantastic and they’ve added to the menu and the atmosphere. Prime your palate with some of the best fried pickles and cheese curds you’ve ever had. Dip these delectables in the finest house made ranch this side of the Mississippi. It was nearly impossible to pace myself and save room for the main course(s). There are so many sides to choose from! And I am terrible at decisions… the potato salad is not your granny’s recipe, this is a baked potato loaded with all the goodies plus cheese! Almost a meal in itself. Mac&Cheese = yum. Fried squash = shut up. Green beans = I would walk thru fire for more. Spicy slaw = make you slap your mama. The meats. OMG, the MEATS!! I was already borderline addicted to the chicken salad. But the pulled pork and brisket, oh the brisket. I just. There are no words. The taste, texture, smell….the soul of the brisket is nothing short of biblical. Make sure to let them now if you like fatty pieces or not. They’ll hook you up. You might find your religion at Major’s Smokehouse because that brisket will have you saying “oh my GOD” over and over. I had to cancel plans after my meal due to the food coma I had put myself in. I was filled to the brim with BBQ and satisfaction and for at least one time this week, all was...
