I have never posted a negative review anywhere, but I have to here. We ordered the chicken and waffles, side of sausages, and an omelette. For the waffle I asked for blueberries on top and got strawberries. Mistakes happen, that’s not a huge deal but they were the worst strawberries I’ve ever had. Tasted a bit like chemicals but mostly tasted like they were going bad. The waffle itself was inoffensive, tasted like it was from a store mix. Rubbery but we did get takeout so could be from that. The chicken for what was supposed to be chicken and waffles was just chicken fingers. Definitely frozen chicken fingers. The side of sausages was $4 for 3 tiny frozen sausages. They’re the same ones I have in my freezer. $4 for good sausages is totally reasonable, but charging $4 for 3 tiny frozen sausages is insane. For the omelette, it was cooked fine and it was the Boston omelette so filled with multiple things but was bland and very clear that a good amount of it was previously frozen. Home fries were tasteless. Even the butter on the toast was weird tasting. Giving it two stars instead of one only because most of it was edible. The strawberries were the only thing that we really weren’t able to eat, worst...
Read moreWe moved into Salem last fall, and April's II happens to be just down the street from us! We have been a few times and enjoyed a nice mix of their breakfast and lunch options. This last Friday, we popped in for an impromptu lunch date and sat at the bar. I love the huge picture of April and the story. So much love there! The place is good sized and very well maintained and clean! Service is swift yet kind! Even the chef came out to chat for a minute while we were enjoying our meal. I opted for the April Salad with grilled shrimp. This is their take on a Greek salad with a very nice light dressing. Look at the flower, too; so pretty. While the salad was delicious, the grilled shrimp made me drool. I ate every bit of them. Hubs had the Rueben and was very satisfied with the taste, and the fries were perfectly seasoned. Iced Tea was so refreshing! Prices were extremely reasonable as well. This is a go-to...
Read moreWell this is kind of like a hole in the wall little restaurant.. it's changed owners over the years. Now it's kind of like a TORITOS LIKE A MEXICAN OR SPANISH BAR. If you like that that's fine not my thing.
They're kind of opened certain hours.. And then they close. No rhyme or reason very bizarre..
No entertainment. I used to have karaoke and DJ..
Their food is just okay nothing special.. IT'S KIND OF RUNDOWN AND OLD.. that doesn't mean it's not clean it's just run down.
I went here with some friends because there was a little get together. My second time being there. If they weren't going there I definitely would not be picking this place.
Very bizarre having like an American type of bar, traditional, and then going in and realizing PLACE CALLED APRIL'S IS LIKE A MEXICAN SPANISH BAR? They're also playing lots of Mexican and Spanish music.. not my cup...
