My family has been getting food here for decades. This place use to be great back in the day but recently it has gone completely down hill.
The food is extremely inconsistent. The pizza use to be good here but now it is hit or miss. You either get ok pizza or you get an overcooked/undercooked greased out box of trash.
As a garlic enjoyer I opted to try the White Roman Pizza along with a few other things. The pizza was completely soggy drenched in oil and barely hot like it had been sitting out a while. The pizza was completely covered in what looked like an entire jar of garlic. All the other fried food we tried tasted like it was all cooked in the same oil they used 20 years ago.
The service here is also completely terrible. The people working there seem like they don't want to be there. They were not very pleasant to deal with and seemed like they just wanted to get their money and get you out. We called to get a refund on the inedible pizza but the insured us over and over "it's supposed to be like that" and denied a refund.
As for the atmosphere it is abysmal to say the least. You go in and it doesn't seem like they want you eating there even know they have a decent size dining area with tables. Which is actually understandable because most of the time when you go in there you are greeted by vagrant homeless people and junkies just hanging out at the tables.
Plus the inside has not been updated in the last 20 to 30 years which would be ok if it was kept nice but it just seems dirty and old and not very welcoming.
I want to love this place because it is a hometown staple, but I just can't. I really hope someone can take over and return it to the amazing restaurant it was before it becomes just another memory of...
Read moreI have ordered from carusos for the past 10 years no problem. It has been months and months since I have but tonight I missed their pasta and decided to order from them for dinner for my family. I chose to order online via the caruso website and was directed to “ChowNow”. I placed an order with my credit card and waited. At an hour and change I called Carusos to check on the order and was informed by the so-called manager, Star that ChowNow was supposed to call me to let me know that one of the items i ordered on their menu was not available. After I told her that they didn’t call me she gets rough and says “no we are not the one to call chownow is you placed the order with them...” so anyway i ask to just place it with them and asked if she could please accommodate the fact that I had already waited over an hour with 4 children up waiting on dinner on a school night. She said she has 6 orders in front and could not guarantee less than hour or put me in front of anyone... When i asked about the payment I already made she stated that chownow had it and they would have to refund...she blamed everything on ChowNow. I called chownow who informed me that the order was canceled pretty much immediately when placed and they did not notify them to notify us and I have to wait 3-7 days for the refund from them because they (caruso) canceled. Not only was Star extremely rude, she lied, refused to accommodate a customer who was technically already in cue- not cutting the six other orders and never apologized! I ordered elsewhere and vow to never order from Caruso again... my pregnancy pasta cravings can order from somewhere where they actually know how to serve customers... the frustration is not worth it. Owner please...
Read moreReview: My Experience with Caruso’s (Mistaken for Crazy Buzzi’s)
I originally tried to order from Crazy Buzzi’s, but the link on Google redirected me to Caruso’s without making it obvious. I only realized it wasn’t the same restaurant after arriving and seeing a completely different setup. I even stopped by both places to try to figure out the mix-up — which was confusing and annoying.
Caruso’s was empty, which is usually not a great sign for a food spot. But I decided to give it a shot anyway.
Unfortunately, the food was one of the worst meals I’ve ever had:
The onion rings tasted like they were fried in old oil — very unpleasant.
The chicken was dry, with no flavor or freshness.
The bread was soggy, making the sandwich fall apart.
The tomatoes were bad, like they were past their shelf life.
I honestly couldn’t eat most of it. I ended up throwing the majority of it away.
It was frustrating to:
Be misled by the online listing.
Waste time driving to multiple places.
Spend money on something I...
