Walnut Street Coffee Cafe — Restaurant in Lynn

I’ve noticed that Walnut St. Cafe has some sort of cult following and I can’t for the life of me understand why. I never feel like this place is worth the money. Way too much ice. It’s a shady business practice to serve your customers more ice than the coffee they’re paying for. They actually prefer the wording “more coffee than ice” upon request for less ice.. for some reason. This is per word of the employees, which just sounds hilarious and makes for a really uncomfortable request — especially if it’s the owner who is working. Do they not realize that wording implies a transaction for a cup of ice? Or do they just not care? You can tell it’s not what the owner wants to hear when you’re ordering. Speaking purely from a quality standpoint, the coffee simply is not good. It’s one-note, tastes like it was left out overnight and then diluted with water. I get the feeling that the excessive amount of flavors they offer and the excessive amount of sugar they use is compensating for a lack of in this regard.

I was really trying to decide between two or one star, but the owner has Fox News on every time he’s working — without fail. For this, they get one star. No reason to be promoting misinformation and bigotry by having Fox News on unless you believe in it. This is worth mentioning so that people may have a better idea of who and what their money may...

Rude service on more than one occasion. The owner, Jim often works behind the counter and is easily the most rotten apple of the bunch. I came in with 2 other friends to grab an iced coffee, and you would think I was a bum off the street begging for handouts the way he rushes us and reluctantly made our drinks. A separate occasion more recently it was even worse. Early morning with the owner again behind the counter. Rushing me to make my order no less than 10 seconds after walking into the establishment. I committed the capital crime of not calling the cinnamon chip muffin by it's full name. I forget what he said,but it was dead rude. When I said, "um..." he replied with "now you're really pissing me off." I've also seen him drunk ( they serve alcohol and on their open mic nights and often have folky / hippie music acts) drunk and urinating on the side of the building where they keep the garbage. I live close by and saw that on my way to the convience store next door. There's more than one review here and on yelp about what a jerk the owner is. I made it a point to ask an employee what his deal is when the owner wasn't around on a separate occasion and he said "I don't even have enough time to tell you all the times he's...

Coffee ☕ is great I have not had the food yet all though the breakfast bagel sandwiches look good the service can be MUCH, MUCH better. They always seem like they hate their job.

Smile 😊 be nice .. It won't hurt and you will probably get more tips. $$ One morning no one in line just me I kindly asked if I could sample the Egg Nog. Just a squirt in the cup they were going to give me. OH MY you would've thought I asked for a free cup of coffee.

They said we don't give out samples, which is a LIE I've seen them do it all the time with a packed line mind you. Also I could tell that they were talking ( making fun ) about me from outside looking in the window because I asked for a sample taste AGAIN which I've seen them do plenty of times. They have their favorites and if your not in the click forget about it. Your rudely out casted.
