Let me start by saying I WANTED this place to be good...Like I really wanted to have a local pizza place I liked. Perrinville Brick Oven has been in conversation in the area for months. There has been a lot of hype. They have been open for a little over a week at this point so we decided to stop on our way home and try it out. I could not have been more disappointed.
We had a salad and pizza. The salad was fine, but honestly was not much better than something I'd get at Sabarro in the mall. The dough literally was the most flavorless pizza I've ever eaten. It had no flavor at all and tasted dry. Hard to compete with Niles Peacock just down the road in Edmonds with award winning sour dough crust and even Fire & the Feast. One pizza needed salt, and had pepperoni and sausage (which was surprising)...the other was SUPER salty and hand giant slices 1/4 in thick of tomato. It was just so confusing. There are things that can be worked out, but if you are a pizza joint, the dough is your anchor. There is just no way this is worth $60+ for 2 pizzas and a salad. This would take a global revision to get me back there.
If you are looking for a great cocktails and pizza or Italian food in the Edmonds area...go check out Niles Peacock or Fire & the Feast. Brooklyn Brothers Pizza in Mukilteo is also decent pizza. No cocktails, but it at least has flavor. If you are looking for truly amazing wood fire pizza, Delancy in Ballard is FANTASTIC. Dino's in Capital Hill is also great (acquired taste for the restaurant vibe though)...but don't let it fool you, the pizza is legit.
Sad to say this place just isn't worth it. I really had high hopes for a decent dinner/pizza spot in Perrinville. Sadly...the...
Read moreSo disappointed. Found all the food to lack taste, which I am now seeing in multiple reviews. Should have looked at those before. We ordered the artichoke appetizer, the Athenian salad, and margarita pizza. First off, both the margarita pizza and salad were supposed to have fresh basil on them but it was almost nonexistent on both. Would have appreciated a message or notice if they were out of basil or something. I’m disappointed because we have been looking forward to trying this place (we love brick oven pizza - all pizza really) and when we finally had the means to try it, it was a huge let down. The crust was not good, for me it’s usually the best part, but the whole pizza lacked flavor, even with whole cloves of roasted garlic. The appetizer didn’t have any flavor and may have also lacked ingredients (??). It also came with breadsticks but they were tough, flavorless and just all around felt like old, dense, reheated breadsticks. We ordered for pickup (live less than 5 min away) so I don’t have anything to say about the atmosphere, but the person at the counter when we picked it up was friendly and our food was ready very quickly. Even though we saw the order get placed on the counter and, like I said, only live a few minutes away, the food was cold by the time we got home and opened it up. Not sure if this contributed to the taste of the food? Maybe I was expecting a higher level of food based on pricing...
Read moreWe ordered takeout yesterday and were very happy with the quality of the pizza and friendliness of staff.
PIZZA commentary: Dough is made by the cottage bakery next-door, which resulted in a perfect flavor and texture in my opinion. The sauce is flavorful, but not overly salty or garlicky. It has a robust and fresh tomato/herb quality. Cheese is high end and the ones selected makes for an interesting and evenly melted finish. However they have dialed in the temp and time for cooking 2 weeks later, it's on point! Cooked throughout and because of the cooking method, it delivers a perfect wood oven crisp/flavor.
SERVICE feedback: Greeted by the owner with a smile. Ordered two 10inch pizzas (cheese + hame/mushroom) for roughly $30. Out the door in 15min tops. Very happy and soon to be returning customers. Eating there would be a loud experience during peak hours. However, I did see several families, which is...
