9/1/22 - Finally made it back here after our first visit about 3 years ago. Every bit as good as the first time and now that our daughter lives close by we have an excuse to come here more often! Tonight we started with roasted Brussels sprouts appetizer covered with parmesean and a creamy white sauce. Then had the parmesean crusted halibut with sautéed veggies and garlic mashed potatoes, charbroiled wild salmon also with garlic mashed potatoes and sautéed veggies. The halibut was absolutely perfect! Cooked to perfection and delicious! The salmon was also excellent, brushed with olive oil and lemon. The garlic mashed potatoes were smooth and creamy and the veggies were fresh and cooked just right. We were too full for dessert but they have a wonderful selection of sweets that I want to try. 5 star food and service!
2019, pre-pandemic: Awesome restaurant! I was looking on Yelp because I was in the area and hungry and it was recommended. Amazing fish and chips and the Home made tartar sauce was also perfect! Also had steamed clams which were very good and a seafood pasta with scallops, fish, clams, muscles and shrimp. Everything was so fresh and delicious! I don't live close to The Hook but will definitely make an effort to go back! Very friendly wait staff and also in my opinion a good indicator of an establishment is restroom cleanliness and theirs are spotless. They have a large bar area and a huge selection of whatever you may want including a great list of beer on tap. If you want something unique and delicious go here, you won't be...
Read moreWe went here for an impromptu dinner the other night. Atmosphere is nicer than a sports bar, but more casual than a traditional seafood restaurant, there are TVs and stuff for sports watching and we appreciated the approachability of it considering we came in athletic wear looking for a quick dinner. We started with clams in the white wine sauce which was delicious. I got the blackened salmon ceasar, and my boyfriend got the salmon entree (the mashed potatoes on here were amazing). The salmon ceasar was exactly what i was looking for taste wise, the blacked crust on the salmon was amazing and i recommend requesting if you were to get the entrée (it is just a normal baked finish for the entree rather than having a blackened crust - "char broiled" was not at all what it seemed or tasted like). One note is that I felt like half my fish was very dry and fishy towards the end and i got a bone in it (the first half was fine so I'm not sure what happened there) and the ceasar dressing pooled at the bottom which made the bottom of the salad not as appetizing. I would just ask for he dressing on the side to help with that and I would still recommend the fish even with that weirdness. We've also had wraps there before and they were also delicious. The pricing here is lofty expect to spend 30 to 50 per person with a drink even if you weren't to get seafood. Good happy hour and gluten free...
Read morePrior to this week I would have given 5 stars. Bartender is awesome...he's very attentive and just an all around cool cat. Food is top notch. Menu is fun because there are constantly specials on a separate menu. I'll go in with something specific on my mind and then they throw down the specials menu in front of me and I end up conflicted as everything always looks so appealing.
They just lost a couple of stars, though. I showed up this last week and found the place to be closed with a sign on the door stating they were closing for a week for my, and their staff's, health and safety. By that logic, the place should just close until Covid goes away altogether. Closing for a week did nothing. Do you not remember 2 years ago; "2 WEEKS TO SLOW THE SPREAD"? How'd that work out? Covid is the new normal, folks. Unless everything is prepared to close indefinitely (and not even then), everything else is just lip service in the face of this thing.
Reputation is more important than profits. Close your dine-in and relieve that staff, but why not keep your kitchen open for to-go orders/deliveries? Now, it's on my mind that I may show up there and find the place arbitrarily closed. So, that forces me to have a back up plan or just choose somewhere else...
