New China Restaurant — Restaurant in Lyons Township

New China was an interesting place with potential. Upon entering you realize that it was a dine in and take out, till you see the tables and chairs upside down and used as storage. Visibly dissatisfying, but it's fair for the value. Food preparation was fast, and tasty. The vegetables were good, the chicken was good. The only downside on the cuisine side is both me and my partner noticed that the rice was cooked with burnt out cooking oil. It was still passable because we were over all excited on the platter. That until a few hours and we were a little upset in our stomachs. This referencing my earlier comment on the potential of this restaurant. It can look better by appropriately placing their mops, boxes, and clothes away from the dining area but they chose to do otherwise. They have fast and good cooks, but chose to maximize profit by using older oils. We could have caught them on a bad day maybe, or maybe we were the last batch before they changed the oil. Other reviews praise this place as a local gem. I unfortunately can't do that this time around and will leave it at a slightly above slightly below average review. Ordered 2 meals at 5:15 for delivery in THE SAME TOWN. Less than a mile away. I was feeling lazy and didn't want to drive after work. 6:15 comes around and we call to ask what's up with our $30 order. "We are very busy. We are working on it. Ok bye-bye" and hung up on us. 7:15 comes around and we call again. This time the woman says that the driver went to the WRONG ADDRESS and gave someone else our order. We have ordered delivery from here quite a few times both myself and my parents. When we asked for our money back she told us she would do it tonight. Although checking in to pick up my food felt kind of rushed, My partner and I really enjoyed our food. We had the orange chicken and sweet & sour chicken dinner specials, which the orange chicken wasn’t soggy with sauce and was coated just right. The sweet and sour chicken was fresh and crispy along with the chicken fried rice being the right texture and taste. Also, for myself personally I’m very picky about what Chinese food places to eat chicken from because I hate those weird large shaped pieces of chicken some places serve, but this restaurant had served me the perfect sized chicken pieces, nice coat of breading over them and I appreciate that greatly, lol.
