Kyonekko Hibachi Express — Restaurant in Mabank

I've wanted to try this place for a while. I saw they were advertising Thai tea for the farmers market today so I gave them a try. I picked up a Hamachi Heaven roll, Hibachi steak & shrimp combo, & the Thai tea. I appreciated that the sushi roll was bagged separately from the hot hibachi meal.

The tea was perfect. Not super heavy on the ice (thank you) & not over the top sweet like some Thai teas can be. Well done.

Hamachi roll was well packaged, fresh, mild & delicious. I would definitely order it again. Not a big fan of the pasty wasabi, but that's a minor thing.

My expectations were low for the hibachi steak & shrimp combo, so I was pleasantly surprised when I opened the container. Visually appealing, perfect temp, great depth of flavor on the proteins, veggies (great caramelization), & rice. The portion was huge & will be enjoyed for another meal.

Called their phone to place order for pick up. Call doesn't go through. I go shopping and an hour later I arrive at the truck to place an order. I am mid-order when the clerk stops to answer the phone and take a call in order. They ordered the same thing that I was about to. When he finishes and I proceed with my order he then tells me that they don't have enough for my order (but they clearly had enough for the call in). I think it's incredibly dumb and rude to prioritize a call in order over someone actively trying to order at the window. The lady that called it in was standing behind me and rudely butted in with, "Are you done? Are you done? I think you should be done."

Clearly she's the type that always gets what she wants and has no regard for others. Clearly this business prioritizes people over the phone rather than the person standing in front of them.

My teriyaki chicken was really good. There was enough for my husband too. The spring rolls were yummy, hot, and crispy. The 2 dipping sauces were delicious. The atmosphere at the Mabank Truckyard is fantastic; lots of picnic tables and wven outside toys for kiddos.
