So I tried their food for the first time. I have reviewed many different restaurants in-town and out of town. However, the food was descent. A little more of a TexMex taste to me though. Now my reason not being a 4-star, is because the price. All I got was 4 MINI tacos (not the large tortillas either) with a small scoop of rice and beans (beans topped with cheese). I also ordered a agua fresca. Meaning it’s a freshly made drink. Horchata was the flavor. I usually know when it’s powdered based and a really made out of rice. I’m almost positive this place makes their out of the powdered mix. That being said. The meal in my humble opinion for Mabank, Texas being a low-income small town. Cost me $12 plus tax. The drink another $4 and some change plus tax. Totaling $18. Now keep in mind these are mini tacos and they aren’t really authentic. Descent and they look good too. With a 20% tip it totaled out to be $22 and some change. A bit on the higher end for the quality of food and seating area for a not-so-much restaurant style seating as well. I feel like the price should be $9.99 for this meal without a drink. Not $12 plus tax. I know a few locals that have similar meals but actually have restaurant seating and restaurant services like waitresses. If it wasn’t the cost, it definitely would be a 4-star. Employees see extremely pleasant though. Kind and nice. I will still come back for the service and maybe not order their food but purchase items form their grocery side of the business. Enjoy my photography of food :)

I gave a 3 star as the average between our two experiences. Five stars for the first, because everything was amazing! One star for this last visit because...well...you can see in the picture. We ordered 3 dozen plus pork tamales both times and, as stated, the experiences were very different. The first time, the tamales were great - good balance between masa and meat, decent sized, wonderful flavor! Even the salsa they gave us was really good. But this time...the tamales were not only smaller, but almost all masa. We're 2/3 through all that we bought and every one has been the same, so this isn't a case of one or two oopsies. All 18 we've eaten thus far have been the same - minuscule meat, lotta masa, and unseasoned. Even the salsa was different, more pink and closer to sweet and sour sauce, than salsa. We were sort of hoping this might be our tamale place, as we always get a lot for Christmas. But considering the 50/50 gamble, we just can't bank on serving these to family.

This place is awesome! The food is authentic and delicious. I enjoyed the renovated house with an open view of the kitchen where food gets cooked as you wait. The place is clean and has a selection of food and conveniences above what you would expect of a Mexican grocery. They had ALL of my favorite foods, snacks and spices. The selection of salsas is exceptional. I tried the mild, medium and two of the hot varieties. The mild is flavorful with no heat. The medium is a jalapeno blend what the just a hint of heat. The two hot varieties both had flavor, the reddest was a slow burn while the other packed a sinus clearing punch. I need to try the others! They have a 17" burrito! That was not a typo. I will have to come try it with a matching appetite. The owner is a walking ray of sunshine. I highly recommend the place and will be returning!!!

I was told about this great Mexican food in Mabank. I live in across the lake and hadn't been here so I tried it out last Friday with a couple friends. I'm so glad I did to because the whole experience there was awesome. From the location, to the actual building and selection to choose from, great staff and service, the prices were affordable and reasonable too especially for the quality of the food as well as the taste. It was pretty spot on. I'm for sure going back to try out everything I can. My only issue I had and in my opinion (based from years of experience in the food industry and retail/csr) the lady that was to my knowledge managing or cooking, basically running it, seemed like she would be difficult to work and with based off of hearing the way she spoke to her employees like they were kids and was almost barking orders in a belittling or demeaning type of way never once praising them for doing their jobs right. I wouldn't want to work there for her at least but I would go for the food but get it to go to not have to sit and eat there and listen to...
