So let’s be honest, this restaurant is not even close to authentic! We were a table of 4 and it took 20 minutes to get drinks. The floors were sticky, the table was sticky and only 3 menus were available with only one other customer seated inside. There were customers outside though. We ordered appetizers that didn’t arrive until after our main course. The menu offered ribeye steaks or versions of flank steaks, but when ordering ribeyes we were informed they didn’t have them, but we could have t bone or sirloin as substitute, but they weren’t even on menu???? Hmm 🤔… the t bone steaks arrived well done and flavorless with a pile of raw uncooked onions, seriously 😳 uncooked…. Fried Red Snapper was over cooked and rubbed down with season all salt before frying, really…. 🤮! Again a pile of raw uncooked onions!!!!! My friend ordered a pork dish with yellow rice and it was inedible and the rice was plain, seriously! When the appetizers came which were fried yucca and plantains they were hot and fresh and cooked appropriately, however the dipping sauce for the yucca tasted like thick vinegar! I inquired about from the server who went to ask the cook about it, he blew a fuse and could be heard all the way out at the tables. She came back and informed me that it’s mojito with vinegar and garlic added and is authentic Cuban! I told her that’s just not so and she can inform her cook of that and I’ve never had Cuban food in south Florida like that nor have I had piles of raw onions served on my plate before. The cook came out and blustered all over how he’s Cuban and has cooked in Miami and Cuba and his food is authentic and that I don’t know anything about Cuban food, blah blah blah. I just sat there laughing in his face telling him that no cook would ever serve fish rubbed with season all and definitely not onions piled on every plate! He went on to say that no one from macclenny Florida had a right to judge his cooking 😂! What a joke! He went over to the other customer and gave him his meal for free because of his incident not mine cause I’m still laughing and his told the other customer I was a whale, really he weighs at least 300 lbs and pretends to know how to cook authentic Cuban food! Y’all go to Jax or Gainesville for good Cuban food, forget this dirty disgusting over priced wanna...
Read moreMy husband and I had the best experience at The Grand Havana Kitchen! We spontaneously chose to eat dinner there bc we were hungry and it was late. When we arrived we were greeted as if we were old friends. The inside (and outside) dining area was spotless and beautifully decorated with Cuban decor. Not cheesy but nicely done!! I love the picture of Gloria Estefan. We ordered Cuban tamales, Buffalo wings, and churros. All were so perfectly cooked and just delicious!! My husband loved the tamales (his order), I tried one and they were really delicious! Tender and flavorful. The wings I really didn't expect to be great since it's Cuban food- They were the BEST WINGS EVER!! OMG!!😍😍 Cooked just right they were CRISPY AND JUICY! Unlike a popular location that overcooks them every single time. I'm hooked! This is my new wing place. BONUS- they will make ANY SAUCE YOU WANT! Seriously told me they can make any sauce you want. I ordered buffalo garlic ranch which is no biggie but they were AMAZING and just look at the presentation! Beautiful! 😍 And I still haven't told you about the CHURROS!! MY NEW ADDICTION! Oh, Lord save me. I don't need Krispy Kreme...I just need these fresh, warm, CHURROS!! If you don't do anything else today...go by there and order some CHURROS!! YOU WILL BE HOOKED. I can't even....oh so good. Y'all I'm in trouble! 😂 I want some now for breakfast. So, let's please take care of our LOCAL RESTAURANTS 🙌🏻 I forgot to tell y'all, the chef came out and GAVE us his rice to try. Delicious! And the people there are so friendly! The atmosphere was so nice. We will definitely be back! I STILL need my Cuban sandwich, and I want to sit on the beautiful...
Read moreThank goodness for this place in, what i will call, in the "boonies". So driving from Tallahassee and heading to Orlando, I stop for gas and see this Cuban Restaurant. It's 5pmish, I don't want junk food or fast food. Me being a proud latino from NYC, Orlando and Miami, I can easily get disappointed with latin Restaurants. I felt like, hey its either this or a Chinese buffet across the street, lord know what you eating there, lol. OMG was I so happy with this authentic beautiful aromatic slice of latino home. MI GEN, MI GENTE, Chef Laz is the truth, gracias a dios. I played it safe and got a pallomilla with yellow rice and black beans. The Carne was seasoned perfectly and cooked in grilled onions with a Salsita cold garnishing of cilantro, tomato, onion in lime dressing, SANTO... Beans were perfect and served apart from the plate. The prices are excellent, if anything below the usual, as you know I eat everywhere lol. Top it off, I had a colada con azucar to go, i though i was in Hialeah, Miami, y estaba, Ricisimo... The young lady, sorry I forgot her name was an excellent traditional latina de casa. Very warm and attentive with world class customer service that you don't find. I appreciate these small businesses because you get that slice of culture that everyone should be able to experience. I will make this a frequent stop in my travels. Great Job, this...
