Billy's Clubhouse — Restaurant in Macon

This place is SOLID. I was a touring musician for a long time and have seen my share of dive bars. Billy's is way more than what I expected. The atmosphere was a very mixed crowd, patrons were very personable and friendly but the staff is what drives this place. Loved the 2 bartenders on shift, lots of personality between them. Loved the jello shots and classic shots, and the mixed drinks were strong and tasty. The local band, while being up there in age, played a great set of common tunes and we didn't hear a sour note between them. Didn't try out the pool tables but the ladies bathroom was clean at 11pm on a Saturday; that alone deserves praise. This bar is a whole vibe and I am here for it; the layout of the light wood colored bartop was a great choice. All in all, this place is definitely the best Macon has to offer. Best personal pizza, thin crust and the entire 15 minutes that took me to enjoy it was crispy. Service is ok, you get neglected at times the bartenders they all think are cool so will see them talking cool and not taking care of customers, I know the barback guy notices it when he sees customers trying to get a drink and turns and sees bartender overtaking to regulars or either using their phones. 1st visit there after living in Macon for 7 years. Smoking is allowed there. Not exactly pleasant. I grew up in the smoking allowed everywhere generation. So not a big deal. It is noticable. The classic smokey club. There is a dress code. No solid color tees. Which is usually what I wear. I did end up being offered a spare polo shirt. The band was great. Service was great.
