If you drive past this place without stopping, you’re making a mistake you’ll regret.
I’ve been dying to try this spot for ages, but they were always closed when I happened to pass by. Today was my lucky day—and wow, it was worth the wait.
From the very first phone call, I could tell hospitality is their first language. They told me my order would be ready in 15 minutes—I showed up in 14. As I pulled in, I saw a gentleman walking a big bag of food out to a sleek car. In that moment, I knew this was the hidden gem I’d been looking for.
Walking into their carry-out-only space, I was instantly wrapped in the aroma of sizzling flavor and hand-crafted dedication. I hadn’t even said “hi” yet, but I already knew I’d made the right choice.
I paid, told them to take their time, and they offered me a free bottle of water (I politely declined—I had one in the car). Thinking they might be running behind, I went out to put on chapstick and get comfortable for the wait. Two minutes later—yes, two minutes—my food was ready.
The moment I got in my car, the scent filled the air. I couldn’t help but smile the entire drive home.
I ordered the veggie dumplings and shrimp lo mein, and every bite was proof that passion lives here. The menu is small—just the way I like it—because every dish is crafted with care, made to be proud of, and worth every second of effort they pour into it.
The two people working behind the counter (I’m guessing the owners) weren’t just cooking—they were creating. Every motion was deliberate, every plate a piece of their pride. This isn’t “fast food.” This is authentic, heartfelt cuisine made by people who love what they do and want to share it with the world.
Don’t just try this place—plan a trip here. They deserve a line...
Read moreWOWWWWWEEEE!! What a hidden gem!! We came in after seeing the Chow Down Detroit review... and we were not disappointed!! We had crab rangoons, and they are the BEST we've ever had! Crispy, filled with a light, tasty filling and the perfect sauce. We also had the Wonton soup...steaming hot, perfectly balanced, with delicious wontons! A total flavor bomb! The pork and chicken dumplings are out of this world... the fillings are flavorful and bouncy as it should be. Steamed and then panfried, they couldn't have been better! Finally, the green onion pancakes...crispy, tender, chewy... exceptionally delicious!! Everything is cooked to order so you get hot, perfectly cooked food. The owner and his wife are the kindest folks - and lovely to talk with. They are proud of their homemade, authentic food...and they should be, because it is the BEST we've had!! Thank you TJs Shanghai Dumplings!! See you...
Read moreLike many other folks over the past couple of weeks, a friend pointed out the recent video review of a place that's been in business 20+ years I never knew about.
Be warned up front: it's carry-out only at this time. We didn't know that.
The store itself is charming and no excess. You go there for the food. The gentleman who waited on us was extraordinarily polite and helpful. I'd go there again based on the service alone.
I ordered the shrimp dumplings, which reminded me quite a bit of the ones I get in Hong Kong, so, bonus. Lots of filling here, too. The crab rangoon is hands down the best I've had from a restaurant probably ever. It's the real deal and absolutely delicious! Oddly enough, the green onion pancakes had the lightest of flavor. I'll probably try something else like the Spring Rolls in lieu of the pancakes next time. And there WILL be a next time.
Amazing place...
