Chief's Tavern — Restaurant in Madison

Formerly Johnny's Packer Inn, I hadn't been here in years but we were meeting my friend & her spouse who works there 2 days a week. We had a great time! The beers on tap were great & I love the oatmeal stout - on tap! How I miss WI bars! (I'm dispaced in the South...) We played a card game for a chance at about a $2k pot & for $10, I unfortunately did not win anything but it was fun. It's a very crowded, smallish venue. Nothing really special. Recently was hanging out for a couple drinks and decided to queue up some music on the jukebox. BAD move. It was busy, so I payed extra to play Jefferson Starship and Ice House ahead of the other queued songs. Well, the bartender was none too happy about my song selections and proceeded to skip the first one, then the next one, than entirely shut down the machine. One of the classic Wisconsin neighborhood bars on Cottage Grove. Chief's gets an extra star because they have good local musicians often playing on Friday. Personally, I don't think their food is outstanding, but they will run over to Bucks and deliver one of their pizzas, which is outstanding. A lot of these places don't serve wine because their clientele doesn't drink it, so open bottles spoil. How come this place has figured it out on others haven't? They buy the small, individual bottles...
