I haven’t been to Gloria’s in probably a year and a half. I’m just not on that side of town but tonight driving through. I said wow I’m gonna stop and get something to eat because it was great. Last time I was here. Got there at about 6:30 PM, and it was really slow couple of tables and the bar was open. I was greeted by the new bartender because he was being taught by a young gentleman there and they were both nice. Looked at the menu got a glass of water and proceeded to order a carnitas wet burrito . The young guy sitting at the bar next to me who must be the manager looked at me kind of funny they said what? I said I’d like to have a Carnitas burrito wet. Again he looked at me funny not knowing what I was talking about I explained to him that it basically is a burrito with enchilada sauce. Pour over the top and melted cheese. He again look puzzled. He said we have a green sauce that we can put over the top or we can just do melted cheese I said fine do the green sauce with melted cheese, so I looked up on Google burrito wet! And dozens and dozens of pictures of a nice big fat burrito, smothered with enchilada sauce And cheddar cheese melted over the top. Waiting for my order. I showed the picture to the new bartender and this manager I guess, he said oh we don’t do that here. I said oh OK. They brought my burrito it had green sauce on it which I’ve had before, and some melted cheese on the top. The sad thing about this is that the burrito was like a tube small not really big probably less than half the size of a real burrito for the price. And then cutting into the burrito I find there’s just a small amount of Carnitas and mostly rice. And the Carnitas which is supposed to be a nice lean pork had fat in it. Why would they give me this I don’t know. It tasted OK , so I ate it. I was hungry! The bartender came over and said how was your burrito? I said it was OK. I didn’t say it was great because it wasn’t. And I didn’t say it was bad I just said that it hardly had any Carnitas in it. he said well different restaurants serve food differently. I agreed and said yeah, they do finished eating what I was going to eat. Had a few sips of my water paid. The bill left a chip because the bartender was nice. But it made me feel weird all evening after I left there I felt wow is this me or what. Anyway I won’t be going back to glorious because of this little Hiccup. The last time I ate there was a year and a half ago I ordered a burrito and it was twice that size but I don’t remember if it was wet or not. Anyway, I thought I’d leave this message because somebody should read it and take heed on how to run a restaurant. Customers should be treated as though they’re...

From the moment we walked we felt unwelcomed by the waiter, he hada rally bad attitude the entire evening. Once our food arrived we kindly requested red salsa to which he responded they did not have nor served any only green and walked away. As i began to eat my tortita i almost last a tooth when i chewed on a pebble like the knes u put in a fish tank. Read moreIt's okay, but it's not what I would consider authentic Mexican food, and certainly not what I am looking for in Mexican food. To be fair, I'm a bit of a Mexican food snob. I used to live in Southern CA and would literally drive to Mexico for lunch before you needed a passport to cross the border. Even after that, CA has some of the best Mexican food in the country, so I got used to certain standards. Gloria's is tasty, but the flavors were extremely mild. The salsa was sweet and very much a pure tomato flavor. The guacamole tasted of avocado only, it was too smooth, and I suspect they get it from a jar. Even the hot sauce was pretty bland and not hot at all. I got the carne asada which was okay, just not great, and it wasn't what I was hoping for. The meat was a little tough and the flavor left me wishing I had just gotten a steak instead. A couple of high points, the chips and corn tortillas were great. As soon as they came to the table that fresh maza smell rose from the bowl and reminded me of the places in Mexico where you can watch them make the tortillas fresh in front of you. They appear to be home made, which is excellent, and they are served warm. The beans were to my liking and actually had a lot of flavor, so many places forget to season their beans, and these were not watery at all, nor were they mushy. The wait staff were great. The location is cute if a bit kitschy. Overall I wouldn't say stay away, but I'm a little picky with Mexican food and was looking for more of that flavor profile, Gloria's had some great hits but also lots of big misses...
