🍜 Madison Eats | Surprisingly Good Pho in Global Market!

One of my favorite restaurants in Madison. The owner is very nice and always courteous to us. He is always serving ppl with a smile. We usually order the Spring rolls which are great and filled with pork slice, shrimp, basil, bean sprouts, lettuce and rice noodles, I believe? It also is served with a really good peanut sauce. Their pork meatballs have a nice ginger flavor profile along with either sugar or honey to make it sweet; it's grilled very nicely, not sure if they put five spice in it, but something always makes me want to eat more of it. I order the Pork and Rice Noodle Bowl, kind of like a Vietnamese Version of BiBimBop, but with noodles instead of rice; it has some good seasoned pork meat along with shredded veggies. I love adding some of their house hot sauce that they provide as well as a little hoisin and sriracha sauce to give it some more kick and zing. My boyfriend usually gets the pho with beef meatballs or the hot and spicy beef soup. the broth is always tasty and they accompany this with bean sprouts Basil or Thai Basil and some Jalapenos. They also have other delicious options. Keep up the good work. One of the more affordable Vietnamese restaurants, more reasonably priced, giving you what you paid for, unlike some other Vietnamese Restaurants that always jack the price of their food while reducing the portions...Thank you for feeding us all these years and staying open during Covid. You helped put food on our table!!!

Fried tofu really impressed me! Nice and crispy with a unique twist from the lemongrass on top. Fresh spring rolls were just okay in my opinion. I appreciate that they put shrimp and also pork in them for more bulk, but neither pork nor shrimp had fresh flavor (but what can you expect for shrimp in Wisconsin?). As soon as the nice older man set the bowl of pho on my table, the aroma of flavors hit me and I knew it was going to be good (and it was). Atmosphere is simple but peaceful. There was some loud banging going on somewhere in back briefly.. not sure what that was about. Nonetheless, I am going to be a regular here, for sure.

We were staying in Madison after Thanksgiving and wanted Chinese. That was closed so I headed down the block to this, phenomenal place! As we are in a hotel, our take out dishes weren’t photogenic but the broth and noodles/beef were in separate containers. We’ve never had take out Pho before and our first experience was awesome! The aromas when entering the very clean restaurant were wonderful! The staff was very friendly and attentive and the manager (owner?) was very courteous. I have had several variations of authentic Pho but nothing prepared me for the absolutely delicious first taste of the very spicy and heavenly broth! Easily the BEST I’ve ever had! I had the number 7 which came with lo mein noodles and my wife had the number 8 which came with typical rice noodles. Both were magnificent and I would definitely recommend Pho Nam! I never considered Pho takeout but this experience changed all...

Short story: bland food, bad customer service, bad vibe

Long story: Immediately upon being seated the hostess lady was being very rude and trying to tell me and my husband how to handle our baby as if we weren’t capable of raising a child... duh we know that our 2 month old child can’t have food yet, I mean seriously?!? Then she was trying to rush us into ordering our whole meal at once after we asked to order an appetizer first and then decide on our meals. When our meals came out my beef pho was okay but nothing spectacular, but my husbands meal that he specifically stated a few times that he CANNOT have PORK due to food sensitivities and religious reasons so needed to be substituted was served to him WITH PORK. Upon telling them that there was pork in his meal, they argued with him instead of providing good...
