Terrible resturant!!!
Where do I even begin? I've had some terrible customer service and boy does this place just take the cake and I didn't even get to eat there. Congratulations on being the worst restaurant in Madison! You should be so proud for driving out would-be customers.
It started out with a phone call. Before my family and I were going to eat there, I called to ask how long they opened and the owner said that it depends. If they are busy then later or if they are slow then they would close earlier. He literally said that they were slow at the moment and that they were going to close up soon. Mind you, they just opened at 5 PM and I called at 6 PM. He then asked me if I was coming later, I said no, and that we were heading out there now. He then proceeded to ask how many people were coming. I said 6 adults and 3 kids. He was taken aback and said that was a lot of people and since we are coming as a group, he would not be able to seat us together. I said it's fine and that we're okay with that. He then said they can't move tables around because all the tables and chairs are in a certain layout and cannot be moved. I didn't ask for anything to be moved for us. We hung up but after the phone call, I had a feeling that we might not have a good experience there but I wanted to try it out since I’ve been meaning to eat there and my Sister in law and her fiance was excited to eat Korean food. Little did we know of what was to come.
My Sister in laws and brother in law got there first and were standing at the counter. I thought they would be seated already. When I arrived, the owner said that he couldn’t seat us because of reserved tables. He continued to say that if he seated us, we’d be sitting far from each other, like opposite ends. He also told us that a group as large as ours should eat somewhere bigger. Basically, he gave every excuse in the book about why we couldn’t eat there. He had never said he couldn’t accommodate us over the phone, because if he had, my family and I wouldn’t have wasted our time going there. He also didn’t mentioned anything about reserved tables and there’s no reserve link on their site.
The owner was rude, unwelcoming, and acted like we were a problem to his business. Who treats potential customers like that? It was such a waste of time going there. I have never ever encountered such a terrible business like this.
Thankfully Pho Nam Noodle House was across the street and so we headed over there and had the best customer service. Their food was delicious and they were so welcoming. Their service made up for the terrible encounter we had at K-Peppers. If you want authentic Korean food AND good service, I would encourage you to head over to New Seoul Restaurant. DO NOT waste your time coming here. You can...

I disappointed with 2 things at K-peppers.
Manager doesn't like kids. Korean owner doesn't repect young kid or babies as his customer. I've been here 3~4 times with my 1 year-old kid. He said several times to my kid or to me, " Don't touch this accesory or this wall, it's too expensive, or keep away your kid from this table. Don't scratch wood table with spoon. blah blah." He looks to think that young kid would damage or destroy his restaurant.
I don't understand why he accept young kid or baby with his rude manner. K-pepper would better block young chilldren with his rude manner to his customer.
The manager is very rude and not nice to explain restaurant's menu. I ordered extra side dish or rice without knowing it's not free. If I knew it, I wouldn't ordered. I wonderd after I saw my bill with extra payment. Sinde he hadn't explained there would be extra charge for refill. When I asked him about the bill, and he said the refill policy wass in the menu, but he didn't explain when I ordered and the writing was very small to read. Withouht saying "sorry", he said ingredients of side menu was so expensive.

After all, I found the tiny wring for refill policy on the menu at home. "You'd better explain that extra side menu is not free, when the customer ordered extra side menu"
In short, I can't even understand K-peppers rude manners to customers.
Do not go here with your kids. When your kids are holding a spoon, he will replace your kids' aluminum spoon with to plastic spoon and say "Don't scratch this table, since this table is...
Read moreWent in for a take-out lunch today. First observation is that their menus are very clearly labeled for vegetarian/vegan options, and clearly summarizes the dish for someone who isn't versed on Korean cuisine. I am one such person, my experience with Korean food has been a bowl of "instant" bibimbap and mini fish cakes from a Korean grocery store. So when I was asked if I needed any help, I decided to ask what a good dish for someone like me (lacking experience) would be. I was directed, very helpfully, to the beef bulgogi, and ordered that. The wait was about 15 mins, and while I was waiting, I was offered a sample of their roasted barley tea. It is an unsweetened tea with almost a nutty flavor, reminiscent of sesame, that I very much enjoyed. I sat for a few minutes nursing my hot tea, and eventually my food came. I was instructed (by whom I believe was the owner) on how to carry the bag so as not to spill anything, and was given a description of the side dishes that came with my meal. Took the food home and it was still piping hot when I pulled it out of the bag. Now the important part: the food. The beef bulgogi is delicious, thinly cut tender beef and sautéed veggies. No real "sauce" other than what it was cooked in, so the flavor come straight from the beef and veggies. I also got a side of soup, which I was told rotates flavors daily. Mine was a soybean paste and potato soup with green onions. There are a lot of underlying flavors in there, and alet hough I don't like spicy food overly much, I think the soup could benefit from a dash of spiciness. I also got a side of cucumber kimchi, which I discovered I don't like as much as cabbage kimchi, but you can't win them all. All in all I was pleasantly surprised to find a friendly, helpful atmosphere and delicious food (I had been told by a friend there were no good Korean restaurants in Madison, she was obviously wrong) and look forward to coming back again to try...
