I was very excited to experience this restaurant and drove over 40 minutes to come with friends which was all our first time coming to this restaurant. We were greeted and told to wait and grab a drink. Shortly after the table was ready it is a small restaurant inside you can see everyone in the dining room from every table. Upon being sat at our table we waited for about 20 minutes when my husband finally asked one of the waitresses if we could order some drinks. She was very kind but didn't realize it was her table. One of the people in our party of four ordered a drink of club soda, lime, and tequila which came out with simple syrup looking like a margarita without ice. Just not what he ordered the server was very sweet and did place the order correctly, the person who made the drink got it wrong. When it came time to order dinner I ordered the lamb stew very excited to have this as stew is one of my favorites, when the dish came out there wasn't any lamb in it. It would be fine if I was paying for cheap food but this dish isn't necessarily cheap $18 roughly. So again didn't like to feel like a complainer but my dish I was looking forward to had the main ingredient missing. Our server was kind enough to ask the kitchen for a side dish of lamb which came out very tough as does quickly seared stew meat. Overall the restaurant itself is very cool and the others loved their burgers and chips. We were all a bit disappointed in the seemingly off night from the kitchen and hostess for mis-informing the server that they had us as a table. Our dinner experience took over two hours from the initial time we came in to paying. Very disappointed with the...
Read moreFirst time at this establishment which has been open about a year. Brought family on a Monday afternoon. Only one other table of four in the dining room. Literally no one (staff) at bar or dining room. After about 4 minutes went to the kitchen and asked if they were closed..a cook said "no, someone should be out there".. went back out to the bar waited another minute when a heavily tattooed woman with one tray and TWO OTHER staff following her (carrying nothing)dropped off food to the one other party there then she came to the bar with a nasty look on her face (no apology, no greeting). Clearly, we should have left then but didn't. Same woman was stone faced and unpleasant entire time she interacted with us. Thankfully another much more pleasant and attentive server (Gracie) took over our table. Found out this was another one of the "mad" consortium eatery's ( you know, the ones with different restaurants, but shared kitchens and phones that are never answered by a person, just a recording.. yep them (yawn). Gracie was nice, but food was lackluster, undercooked and kid sized portions. Fish was overly battered and not fully cooked (raw batter on inside). Burger was literally size of a slider and came with EXACTLY 5 fries. $70 for two.people. We will not be back and do...
Read moreStopped by on St Patrick's Day expecting an ornery crowd and terribly rushed food but experienced a quiet, peaceful tavern and super double amazing pub fair. Sooooo glad I stopped by and trusted the staff's suggestions!
Had a local honey-based cider that was light and pleasant and I wish I could take home with me. And then the food came out and the real adventure began: Spectacularly huge and perfectly cooked Lamb Burger with garden-fresh veg and an amazing spice somewhere in the mix that I couldn't identify but thoroughly enjoyed. Homemade Mac and cheese made with love and gouda that could have been a featured menu item on its own. (Look at the pic and tell me you wouldn't devor it!) Along with Brussel Sprouts topped with a coating of feshly peppered and grated Parmesan cheese. Ate the whole thing and was STILL full and smiling the next morning.
If you're in Madison, check this place out. Hart & Crown was the highlight of my dining adventures in the entire STATE of...
