Nautical Bowls — Restaurant in Madison

I normally love coming here, my husband and I have been for a while now. However, when I walked in today, I was immediately put off by what I saw. The young girl working was sitting on top of the coolers with her feet propped up on the counter where the smoothie bar is... she also had a personal smoothie sitting on top of the coolers as well. Didn't bother to wash her hands before preparing my bowl. She stopped in the middle of making mine to help the next customer, took one glove off to do so and didnt put another on and continued making my bowl. I needed to use the restroom before I left and noticed there wasnt even soap available in the only working bathroom.. I kindly let her know that it was out of soap and she just says "okay."

I honestly didn't even eat my bowl and I should've just handed it back to her but this place needs a serious training on food safety. I normally wouldn't care so much but I'm also 7 months pregnant, so I'm already cautious about where I go the rare times my husband and I get food anywhere. All of the employees were kind and attentive. The establishment was clean and has a beautiful lay out. I adore the fact that they have several size options and their ‘mini packs’ are amazing alternative for your kiddos. Also a great alternative if you are indecisive and want to try 3 bowls at once!
