I walked down to pick up some lunch for myself. I ordered 2 spring rolls that were pre-packaged and ready to go.
I've wanted to check our this new place for awhile, and finally was able to make it today.
I walked back to work and sat down to eat and noticed that the food was best by yesterday.
When I called, I was placed on hold so they could talk to the owner about this problem. I was then told that they "just switched out" that product so I can just come back now and get a new one.
I advised I cannot do that in the middle of my work day, and was feeling disappointed by my experience. A lackluster sorry was given, and the conversation ended.
I love supporting local, especially an allergy friendly kitchen, but this service was a disappointment.
Edit:
While typing this review the owner texted me and told me I had been refunded for my lunch:
"Hi Gretchen, this is Paleo mama bakery. I just wanted to let you know I refunded you for the 2 spring rolls back to your card. It looks like those expired yesterday. Iâm sorry about the inconvenience!"
Which is nice to have been told. For this reason I am updating my...
Read moreMy husband is white and I am not. I'm used to him being friendly to wait staff and them being very friendly back, but not to the point of being flirtatious in front of me and doing other things that make me feel slighted when I paid for everything. This was what I experienced at Paleo Mama on Labor Day this year. My experience with most staff at the store is that they go out of their way to be polite, and I surmise the gal that acted differently is perhaps related to the owner. It is very strange since in Madison I haven't encountered race/whatever issue that was by going to a store. Food wise, we had tried and liked the Keto Magic Bar, Dubai Chocolate (~$10/piece), Keto Pumpkin Fudge Brownie and Coconut Caramel Bar. The hubby had a tummy ache after eating the Pumpkin Cheesecake, the only flavor he likes. I tried the Keto Twix Cookie recently and thought it was missing at least caramel, etc and not too enjoyable. We were excited to find the store, but the above-mentioned incident is preventing us to want to go back. Btw, the husband found a whole bag of Dubai Chocolates at Costco for almost the same price as per piece...
Read moreRating for the breakfast sandwiches, which are amazing and made to order and going to bankrupt me.
Also the only place in town where you can get an entire ready to bake low carb frozen pizza that isnât Quest pizza â I just wish theyâd make them in-house since their vendor doesnât use garlic, so the end product is kind of sad for such a steep markup. Most of the LC bakery items seem to be made with erythritol so they skew a bit dryer than e.g. allulose-based bakes, but itâs likewise the only option in town with Good Food closed, and sometimes the convenience is just worth it.
ETA: They seem to have recently changed their hours and now open at 9:30 AM every day; it would be nice if this were posted on the front door or anywhere other than online. As primarily a fan of their breakfast sandwiches I have to say this will probably end my semi regular business, as itâs very convenient to stop in on the way to work, but not if they arenât opening until well after the start of the...
