A buddy of mine took me here earlier this year when a mutual friend and his kids came to visit. We had an awesome experience with out chef, who clowned the kids and delivered a show and great food on a random Tuesday afternoon. Came with my family hoping to replicate the experience on Saturday afternoon around 1:30pm. Place was mostly empty and we were promptly seated. Ordered off the hibachiunch menu and wete brought our soups or salads. Took about 15 minutes for the chef to come out and start making out food. It was a much younger guy and he was not into it. He had an airpod in and was on a 9 way video call of some sorts with his phone on the food cart. He did a little perfunctory interaction with the kids and spatula whacking/egg balancing/fire column at the beginning and then just proceeded to cook out food and mutter into his call. Kinda off putting and definitely a much poorer experience than my first time here. My family liked the food -- we got steak and chicken, chicken, and shrimp hibachi. Portions were all very large. I loved my steak and thought the chicken was dry, veggies a little hard but my half Asian wife thought everything was good so maybe it was just my unhappiness with the chef. I'll probably try again, but maybe go during a more prime time when hopefully the better chef is cooking.

If I could give a one star I would. My coworker and I did a to go order from them. I ordered a hibachi lunch special and my coworker ordered a beef teriyaki box. The quality was horrible. There was more water and oil than actual food. The teriyaki box came with sushi and the sushi was drenched in oil and water causing the sushi to be warm, soggy and falling apart. I asked for medium well steak with my lunch special and I received tough pieces of steak swimming in the oil and water that they are calling “sauce”. Also they forgot my fried rice. I called back up to the restaurant to let them know and I was told that they do not do replacements or refunds. We did not have time to check our food before leaving due to us being on a short lunch break and them taking 35 minutes to prepare the food after telling us it would only take ten minutes. I am giving a two star rating for the atmosphere because me and my same co worker have dined in here and the food was amazing. Saying all of this to say… DO NOT ORDER TO GO FROM THIS PLACE EVER!!!!

2025: Came back and tried the sushi, it was okay. Sweet heart roll was decent, but missing it's traditional stacked heart shape. Fantastic roll was not that fantastic, but the mango was good. I enjoyed the sushi better than I did the hibachi previously and will likely stick to that in the future. Service was still great and the rest of the table enjoyed the hibachi show. 2024: Typical hibachi place with table-side show and service. Food was okay, not well distributed between people at the table. They ran out of fried rice and grabbed some from the back when asked, it might have sat out too long because it wasn't good. Got the shrimp and scallops. Didn't get much of either, just a few more than the shrimp that everyone gets. Good place if you're looking for some entertainment with dinner and a fun experience, bad if you're trying to have a conversation. Heard the sushi was good. Will come back to give that a try.

2 months ago I gave this restaraunt a 4 star rating. I considered it the best Hibachi in Madison. Tonight, my girlfriend and I went to celebrate her birthday. It quickly turned into a disaster. Long story short, I ordered double rice and received what would end up being less than a normal portion on previous visits. My girlfriend's wasn't any better. My steak portion was equal to that of a few of the kid's meals I saw at the table, and don't get me started on the veggies. I'm never one to complain because I understand restaraunts are going through tough times, especially because I come from the food service industry. But tonight it literally felt like I was getting robbed of my hard earned money by a greedy restaraunt who has cut portion sizes and maintained the same price points. My girlfriend took a picture of our food (or lack there of) but do not have the ability to upload pictures at the moment. Not to mention, the gentleman with the blonde hair (perhaps the owner or the manager), was running around the restaraunt with a p'd off look the ENTIRE time. Our waitress (awesome girl) was speaking to another guest and he came up out of nowhere and started questioning her while this guest was mid sentence speaking to her. I will not be returning to Sakura and would implore every potential patron to go literally anywhere else and get your actual...

Yesterday was and will be my first and last time I will ever go to this place. My boyfriend and I went for lunch and had a horrible experience. First, the menu is confused and makes no sense. You are only allowed to order from the lunch menu on certain days and times? Making customers purchase from their dinner menu even though it isn't dinner their wanting and again this was lunch time we went. I understand the food may be the same on the lunch menu and dinner menu, BUT if you look at the prices there's a difference of $3-4. Plus it was really under seasoned! If I'm paying $15 chicken tempura it better be worth it! overall the food is WAY OVER PRICED for what you get! Second, our food took longer than we expected. It took about 25 minutes or so to get our food out. I assure you it was not busy. Lastly I got horribly sick that evening. It was the only thing I had eatin all day so I know for a fact it was the food from this place. I threw up three times and was in bed with a stomach ache the rest of the night. My boyfriend himself said his stomach was feeling upset as well. He did not throw, but I on the other hand did....
