Slim Chickens — Restaurant in Madison

My husband loves chicken- Chic Fil A and Super Chix he really enjoys. We’d passed the Huntsville location all the time and had always wanted to try it. Finally did and were sort of disappointed. We didn’t dine in, went through the drive through which was slow. Food just was okay, definitely not bad. But not super great like we were hoping. We probably wouldn’t eat here again over so many of the other options out there. I had the buffalo mac and cheese bowl. The onions on top were interesting. Chicken was okay, I liked the sauce but it could have been spicier. Mac and cheese was average. For anyone who loves mac and cheese like I do this wasn’t yummy enough to be worth $10. I get these Banquet brand frozen buffalo mac and cheese mega bowls from the grocery store that I’d much prefer over theirs. My husband got tenders with mango habanero sauce and fries. Enjoyed the fries but didn’t think to ask for ketchup. Said the chicken was comparable to the kind you’d grab from a gas station hot case. Not awful, but really not the quality we were wanting. Unsure if they’re supposed to ask or you have to request for the tenders to be tossed in sauce versus them just giving you some 2 oz plastic portion cups. Maybe it’s not even an option. Kinda pricey for the quality of food we received, but it seems popular enough so some people out there must...

If you're meaning to be anywhere on time this place is not advisable, but if you have the time to sit down and enjoy some really well done fried chicken this is the place! (They also have signs to let you know everything is made to order and is hot and fresh!) The wait is well worth it.

The meals are generously portioned and can be shared. There's a variety of sides one of which was fried okra which was delicious. The fries are excellent also!

We accompanied the chicken with Slim's sauce which by tasting it was a ketchup/mayo base with either bay seasoning or pepper. Really good!

We finished our meal with a strawberry milkshake which was surprised to find out fresh strawberries in it.

Will definitely return to check up on other menu items and explore the dessert menu!

Edit: the service and getting the food has increased significantly. It appears that slims has become more established or we just happen to stop by during dinner hours. Regardless, the food is top notch and the strawberry cheesecake...

Edit: 9/5/24 I came back again for my second visit today. The toast was not the same as previous, and was a little thicker, but was also much less buttery and a lot better in my opinion! Still not a fan of their slim sauce, but it's not bad, just not my style. Chicken was also much better. It was flaming hot (temperature) and almost burnt my hands, but that's probably a good thing haha. Tea still slaps and did not disappoint.

This was my first time trying a Slim Chickens. I wasn't disappointed by any means, but I can't say I was blown away either. The fries were decent. The toast was very interesting. It was EXTREMELY buttery and pressed very thin, so it was very crunchy. I thought that was pretty good, but it was a little overloaded with butter. The Chicken was average. I wasn't the biggest fan of their slim sauce. It was thicker and sweeter than I was expecting or prefer. Their fresh tea was 10/10 though. I would definitely go back just...
