Today was supposed to be special.
I'd been looking forward to trying Taco Bell’s new Chicken Nuggets for a while. I'd heard the whispers, seen the praise, and dreamed — yes, dreamed — of sinking my teeth into golden, crispy perfection, each piece lovingly coated in one of their new, specially-crafted sauces. Spicy. Tangy. Bold. It was supposed to be an experience.
I wasn’t just hungry. I was ready.
I pulled into the drive-thru like arriving at the gates of Valhalla. I ordered the nuggets. I politely — specifically — requested all the new sauces. I paid. I got the food. I thanked them. I trusted them. I trusted the process.
I drove home, barely containing my excitement. I set the bag down like a sacred artifact, washed my hands, cleared my space — prepared myself spiritually.
And then... it happened.
I opened the bag.
Nuggets. Check. Napkins. Check. Sauces...?
No sauces. Not a single blessed drop.
I tore through the bag like a desperate raccoon. I checked under the napkins. I checked in the corners. I checked inside the nugget box like maybe, just maybe, they tucked them away like some cruel prank.
Nothing.
Just dry, mocking nuggets. A plate of lonely, desolate beige.
I sat there, stunned. My appetite didn’t even immediately register what had happened. There was a brief moment where I thought, "No, maybe I can still enjoy them..."
I was wrong.
Eating those nuggets dry — bone dry — was an act of slow, excruciating torture. Every bite scraped against the inside of my mouth like sandpaper. Each chew felt like swallowing a mouthful of shredded cardboard dipped in despair. I drank water. It didn’t help. I tried forcing a smile. It cracked like a dry desert floor.
At one point, I coughed, because a piece of dry nugget debris lodged itself in my throat, and for a terrifying second I thought, "This is how it ends. I die here. Nugget dust in my lungs."
Not once did I taste the spicy kick I was promised. Not once did I experience the vibrant zest I dreamed of. Only dry, endless chewing. Like a cow gnawing on hay. Like an astronaut eating styrofoam on the moon.
My excitement — years of Taco Bell loyalty — turned to dust in my mouth alongside those brittle, forsaken nuggets.
Taco Bell, you didn’t just forget the sauces. You forgot the very soul of the meal. You left me to wander the desert without water, to eat the sand when I was promised wine.
Will I go back? Maybe. But not with joy in my heart. Only a haunted look in my eyes, remembering the day my dreams crumbled into dry, flavorless dust.
Quit playing with people's emotions. Never...
Read moreI just went to this location which is usually a go to for me and there was an older woman with glasses working. When I pulled up to the speaker she greeted me with "Thank you for coming to MY taco bell what would you like" and I took 2 seconds(literally 2 seconds) to review the menu and make sure my chalupa meal was a #6 as I had remembered. I started talking and the lady interrupted me and said "I don't have time for you to not be ready, I am trying to run the front and the window and I just have too much going on to spend my time letting you decide". I told her that was absolutely downright rude and disrespectful and that if she would have let me talk I would have already ordered my #6 chalupa meal. She continued to explain how "she has too much to do and I need to hurry up so what do you want to drink with that meal". I told her she can forget the order and that I would be leaving a review online and her response was "uh no your not, its not my fault I have to do everything". So what if I was a customer giving taco bell a chance and needed to actually review the menu.. What a great first impression. I've been a retail store manager at Oreilly Auto Parts and now run my own business. Not only did she have a down right TERRIBLE attitude but I'm a paying customer that should be treated with respect. Less customers=less profit. Simply letting me talk and order was one solution or even stating that "shes short staffed, can I give you a moment to decide while I assist another customer inside" would have worked as well. Mind you I was already ordering when she interrupted me. When I was a manager, if I had an employee acting in such a manner disrespecting customers they would be sent home for the day and lose the privilege of coming in for their next shift. Possibly even losing their job with the way she was talking to me for no reason at all. My normal protocol was a 3 strike rule. Documented as write ups. This location has been wonderful in the past but this employee I can assure you is dragging it down. The bad apple needs to go before it ruins the bunch. She slowed down my ordering process and continued to argue about it wasting more time. If time is what you don't have don't you think arguing is the wrong way to spend your time??? The workers that even have a slight language barrier are far better to work with and extremely pleasant. This lady was rude to the customer in front of me and behind me to no surprise after our conversation. I was there at about noon on 2/26/23. I would be surprised if this is her first...
Read moreI thought this one was one of the better Taco Bell locations in the Madison area - until tonight! I ordered a 'Fresco Beef Quesarito" and I get some dried up thing - a tortilla with dry hamburger & rice and nothing else. Not at all like the Fresco with pico de gallo salsa as described online. So I drive back through the drive-thru and ask again for the Fresco Beef Quesarito, thinking maybe he didn't hear the 'fresco' part. The guy recognizes me from 2 minutes earlier, sees my nasty food on the dashboard, and asks if I got the wrong order. I tell him I asked for the Fresco and couldn't tell what I actually got. He asks to examine it and tells me, "Yup, that's the Fresco quesarito. Fresco just means you don't get any dairy products like cheese or sour cream." I ask where the salsa/avocado is, and he tells me that is not what the Fresco is????
I went down the street for a grilled chicken sandwich at Wendy's and it even came with a slice of tomato, lettuce and sauce!! :-) ...
