Traveling down the Pennyrile Parkway in KY, heading towards Clarksville TN late at night, we were searching for someplace to eat.

We googled places near the Madisonville, KY exit and first tried going to Huddle House, but found them closed.

Then we tried going to Denny's, and they were closed until 5 a.m. An older local lady we met, who had also tried going to Denny's, told us we should follow her "downtown" to Ferrell's Diner.

Only a 2 min drive from the Pennyrile Parkway, Ferrell's ended up being a pleasant detour, that we will be making whenever we come back down the Pennyrile again.

The Diner was very clean, and although it was staffed by only one person that night, he was quick to take our orders and efficiently went about cooking the food, and serving those already there, as well as those coming in.

They serve breakfast and grill items 24/7, in addition to items not on the regular menu, such as country fried steak with gravy. Along with several types of pie for dessert.

They have single, double and triple hamburgers too!

Our waitstaff/cook was quick to refill our drinks and check back to see if we needed anything else.

The portion sizes were plentiful; especially if you ordered the pancakes, that were as big as your plate.

Our food was delicious and the biggest surprise, was the very affordable prices!

Next time you're driving the Pennyrile and you're approaching Madisonville, KY, you should stop in and give them a try. Your belly will be full and you won't...

I grew up in Madisonville moved away over 25 years ago. Every time I come home I have to stop and get a burger or two. This place was staple of my childhood I can remember my mom bringing me here as a young child. And then coming up by myself with my friends on bicycles during summer vacation. I got word that there was a fire some years back. I will say that I was truly upset by the news. When I found out you all reopened I was overjoyed. So I got a chance to come home for the holidays and I took a drive over to the restaurant for a lunch time snack. I will say it was everything that I remembered. It looked so good and the smell of food when I walked in blew me away.after I got my order I took my first bite and it took me right back to my teen years. Thank you for all the great memories and full belly's. I hope my grand kids get to enjoys the food and the classic style as much as I have all...

It was way to high I called made an order for to combo meals he didn't tell me that didn't have combo meals he just to order and charged me 20.17 for two double burgers and I literally counted my fries and there was 15 fries a piece they weren't even out in a container they were out in a slip u use to wrap burgers and they were out in bag so of course getting them out of the bag is wht lead me.to count then and if course the price upon calling back to ask why it as so high because I didn't get a total in the phone so upon picking our order up my boyfriend went in to pick up.order which he runs a business from daylight till dark so he did not have the energy to even argue the price I used to eat at ferrell's as a kid I know alot had changed but not this much ferrell's should be ashamed...

Ferrell's is one of those Madisonville institutions that hold a special place in my heart. It's always open, and it's always good. I first went here as a kid with my dad, and I can still remember eating the pickle spear by itself before eating the burger. I don't think they have done the spears in a long time, but I'll still eat the hell out of those burgers. During the ice storm, this was the only restaurant open in town; I remember waiting over an hour, happily, for a burger and chili because I could NOT eat another fried bologna sandwich cooked on the wood stove. You won't ever have an under-seasoned burger here. I've never been to a place that is so heavy-handed with seasoning, but I love it. They're juicy too. The fries are simple, yet satisfying. What's not to love?

The great American diner burger is alive and well at Ferrell’s Snappy Service. You step into a time machine upon walking through the door and you are transported to a much simpler time. Grab a seat at one of the stools and watch the folks at Ferrell’s throw fresh beef down on a griddle and cook it to perfection. They offer plenty of toppings to your liking. I can’t wait to go back to try their breakfast options. If you’re cruising through the area don’t miss the opportunity to taste heaven on a bun!
