I've been eating there for many years I moved from Madisonville a few years ago so I rarely get to Madisonville but still occasionally pass through I stopped in on June 7th around 430pm the place was kinda busy but not to bad when we arrived and filled up while we were there unfortunately we had a really bad experience we were with 3 other people 2 of the people ordered breakfast the rest of us ordered plate lunch they brought the two breakfast orders and the waitress said ours would be out in a few minutes in the mean time people that came in long after we did were getting there plates which was basically what we ordered we ask the waitress two different times when was our food coming first time she said well because the two that ordered breakfast had to be cooked on the front grill and they had to send our orders to the back it took a little longer which doesn't make sense I mean our food only had to be dipped up off the steam table when we ask her the second time she said it's coming I waited another 10 minutes by this time the more people that came in long after we did were served we got up and left I know they serve good food but the wait staff they have now on the evening shift need to be trained much better than they are maybe they should be trained by those days shift ladies they have it together on the day shift there practically busy the whole shift and have never failed to give great service if I stop in again it will only be...
Read more1st time customer, and unfortunately last time also. 6/24/23 My wife and I both ordered a fish plate. The picture of the fish plate on the menu has 2 pieces of fish, some hushpuppies, fries and slaw. We got 1 small piece of dried up overcooked fish, fries and slaw. (No hushpuppies). We both got sweet tea, the tea was very weak and watered down. We waited for 50+ mins on the food, no one ever updated us on our order or apologized for the wait. It was pretty busy, but someone should had updated us. I don't mind a wait and understand, but the food should be worth the wait. The fish that we were served was small and very thin and hard to cut with a fork. I ate 2 fries and both was cold. I asked for the manager, she was rude and defensive from the start. She said the fish is flounder and cooked to a perfect golden brown. I told her it was smaller than a mcdonald fish filet sandwich and she said no it wasn't. I had high hopes for the lamppost, we like to support small businesses but this visit was very disappointing. The manager did no charge our orders, but never apologized or cared about our visit and wasted time. The picture posted is what I was served. I should've took a picture of how thin the fish was. Most restaurants wouldn't serve this to...
Read moreI was recently traveling through Madisonville on business and decided to try out Lampost for lunch. I went by the reviews for my choice of Lampost, it seemed to have more good than bad. After my visit, I have decided that Lampost must have a lot of family or friends leaving the majority of these good reviews. I waited 45 mins for a hamburger and fries. They didn't seem to be over busy, no wait for an open table. My burger tasted freezer burnt and had enough salt on it to take care of a year's worth of sidewalk slugs. I ate two bites of the burger and ate a couple fries, the fries reminded me of freezer burnt Oneida box frozen fries. I was going to ask for the manager and complain , but I was running behind schedule because of my wait and I still needed to get some lunch somewhere else. I left more than enough cash on the table to cover the bill , because I never saw a waiter after getting my food and I didn't get a check. I will just do fast food next time I'm...
