Booby's — Restaurant in Maine Township

Yesterday we stopped into Boobys to celebrate a closing on a real estate deal and I had suggested this place remembering there incredible steak sandwich hoping to share my experience with my friend. Unfortunately this was the WORST experience I ever had at any restaurant . I come from a Mediterranean family and I know a LOT about food so I am a critic on quality especially since the supermarket industry has been tattooed to my veins I purchased 2 steak sandwich dinners . I have had chicken rice soup my whole life so I know what I'm in for when i am offered this soup. Unfortunately it was like a thickened flour base that had no taste. I would say a thickened jello pudding named avgolemono.( but not even close) So I placed the cover on the soup and said well this is not good not a big deal. I reach for my steak sandwich and notice that they served my $28 Steak dinner sandwich on an 8 inch paper plate( PAPER PLATE). I'm sorry if a customer is paying over $25 for an entree the fries and sandwich should be presented well onsidering your fabulous reputation as a fast food establishment. Now I understand times are really hard to find workers but there were 4 son in laws and sons all just walking around in there service area not willing to want to help work. So I take it they fired the help and ditched the plates for plastic plates. The steak sandwich had no sauce and was not even tenderized. I would say i had enough of my food experience and was ashamed. I told my client I am really sorry for the poo ervice and terrible quality. Initially I wanted to go to Gibsons but he needed to be closer to his next location so we chose this place. My client told me to go and ask for a refund or even a partial refund or a raincheck of some sort so we can at least try coming back to give it another chance. The man att the counter told my friend there's nothing he can do and offered us nothing. We told him we will post this on Social media because your cheating people that work hard and want to enjoy a good meal when they belive the 1 day they can since they can not do that everyday. It's an insult to people I will never recommend your place to anyone again. And maybe you should bring back your 80 year old father to work because I am sure he had more class and wouldn't allow it to end like this. He handed you a Goldmine only to watch you sink your ship. I've been going to Booby's for over 40 years. I almost always order the Skirt Steak. I must have had close to 1,000 of them. They were the best steak sandwich I have ever had. Well... things have drastically changed. I ordered one 4 weeks ago and it was horrible. It was the lowest quality Skirt steak I have ever had. It was LOADED with those tough fat strands that are a huge turn off. So I decided to wait a month so they can "sell out" of the 'possibly' bad batch. Well that wait didn't help. It was worse. I had to spit out tons of worm-like, very tough fat strands. I was so grossed out I couldn't finish it. Actually I feel that spending over $20 for a steak sandwich it should be close to a prime cut -not even close ! I'm sad because I really loved these steak sandwiches. To be fair to Booby's their other menu items are really good. The best item they make is their Coleslaw. It is very similar to an old restaurant in Morton Grove on Waukegan Road named Manda's (Seven Brothers). To Booby's: Please utilize a higher grade of Skirt steak because the one you use currently is horrible. I miss the original Skirt Steak.

UPDATE: I ended going back to order another skirt steak sandwich around May 1st 2024. Actually the quality of the steak was worse this time. It had what was similar to hard rubber bands running thru the steak that I couldn't bite thru or pull apart. I could not finish it and do not plan on returning to what used to be the best skirt steak sandwich money can buy. Not anymore. I would seriously have to classify it as the worst & lowest quality skirt steak I have ever had filled with hard rubber band type fat as well as some grizzly fat as well. Such a...

The food is not on par to the standards of the modern time in which everything is too rushed on the way of not making it in the fine way it is to be. Example the skirt steak sandwich in many cases had issues with the meat not being tender hence called before ahead to 15 minutes prior was told to staff to make well done but ignored twice for without explanation.

The staff is not polite and makes you question do you know want you want if not come back later in 2023? Not good in which the Customer is always right and the area is not satisfactory to cleanliness outside the premises in which traffic is heavily consistent to enter or exit.

The wait times are long and even in the drive way to get an item the staff will continue to question you example the Land Rover ahead got his food order in exactly 7 minutes the car next had to wait 15 minutes on the side then later was told his order got mixed with another person in which case the customer wasted 30 minutes and traffic as an extra issue in the locality.

No specials due to inflation and yes that’s happening everywhere but to get two sandwiches and 1 fries for $22 is wrong in many ways in the year 2023. No App to pre order the meal and to get points to the next is not present which is Not modern for the people.

Refunds are an issue if the receipts is not there no refunds even if you there 15 minutes away is strange.

Go to Wendy’s, Burger King, Wing Stop, Popeyes, McDonald’s these places offer real All American experience in which there is an App and staff that will take of you fast and in a modern...
