Last night my wife and I, in our never-ending quest to find new and interesting restaurants in the Fredericksburg area, decided to drive to Manassas to try a seafood place called CJ Finz Raw Bar and Grille. When we got there, we found that it didn't seem to have parking, but we were able to find on-street parking. We walked in and saw that it had a fairly small dining room. There was a full bar along the left side of the restaurant, three or four large tables that could seat a party of eight, and tables for two and four elsewhere. We had a 15 minute wait, since on a Saturday evening this place was full. We sat down and were immediately visited by our very pleasant server. I ordered an Ono Oatmeal Stout, and my wife had a Devils Backbone Vienna Lager. We started with a dozen oysters on the half shell. They were fairly good sized, and served with cocktail sauce and horseradish (the real stuff, not sauce). When it came time to order entrees, our server had several suggestions. One of them was the Thai Green Curry Scallops. Since I came there for scallops. I took that suggestion. My wife had a Lobster Roll and a cup of She Crab soup. My wife reported that the lobster was plentiful in the roll, and cooked properly, not overdone. The She Crab soup, which is one of my wife's favorites, was excellent. My scallops were phenomenally good. There were four jumbo sized scallops, with jasmine rice and a wonderful curry sauce. The scallops themselves were not just Broiled, they were done in Thai spices and were delicious. The spices were not too hot. A generous helping of rice and curry sauce made this one of the best scallop dishes I've had. We don't normally order desert, but my wife saw Key Lime pie, so she ordered that. I took another of our server's suggestions and ordered the Granny Apple Crisp, which is a very tasty Granny Smith Apple pie/cobbler with Vanilla Ice Cream. It was very good and very decadent. My wife reported that the key lime pie was also first rate. This is a smallish place that does a good business, so it's probably not the place to go for a quiet intimate dinner. However if you want excellent seafood, top rate oysters, and excellent service, this is the place to go.

I ordered CJ Finz because of reviews on Yelp. So many people were comparing other restaurants in the same immediate area to CJ Finz that I just had to try it. I ordered the Fish & Chips. The fish was a very good size, but I think one more piece would be needed to justify the high price tag on this menu item. I got a small-medium size piece and a large piece. Sadly, the smaller piece was firm and didn't fall apart easily as one would assume fish would do. It was quite tough and bland, for fish. The larger piece was quite pleasant but had a slightly off flavor to it in a fatty spot or two. The tartar sauce was fairly bitter. The fish breading was very poorly held to the meat of the fish and was basically just a hard shell covering a slightly greasy piece of meat. I think this place can do better. The fries were decent. A majority of them weren't soggy, and they had a nice crisp to them with a nice soft interior. All-in-all, this meal still left me a bit hungry, and well, unsatisfied - which as someone who doesn't usually eat more than 2 pieces of pizza that's a bit astonishing to me. The packaging was nice - I like seeing places that use the hard-shell plastic containers, but there also were no utensils or napkins included. It's not really somewhere I would go repeatedly, or daily, but if someone asked if I would go there, I wouldn't complain or try to suggest anywhere different. It's just simply alright. It's one of those places you go to when everything else is closed for the holidays. I would rate this place as "okay".

I visited your bar on the evening of May 2nd and had an unfortunate experience with one of the bartenders—a petite white woman with glasses and pigtails. While she was polite when I ordered my first drink, things changed during my second interaction. The bar was understandably busy, and I was patiently waiting for my turn to order. She acknowledged me initially, which I appreciated, and I respected that she was serving others who arrived before me. However, when a woman who had just arrived flagged her down, the bartender skipped over me and immediately took that woman’s order. I politely tried to remind her that I had been waiting and had already been acknowledged—but instead of a calm explanation or any acknowledgment, her response was: “BUDDY, RELAX!!!” That level of dismissiveness was not only uncalled for but completely disrespectful, especially given how patient I had been. I chose not to order another drink after that interaction. I understand the pressure of a busy bar, but it’s moments like this that make a lasting impression. Customers notice how they’re treated, and one disrespectful exchange can ruin the whole night. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and uses it as an opportunity to reinforce professionalism, even during peak hours. Respect and basic courtesy should never be sacrificed, no matter how busy it gets. NOTE: For reference please see her photos so you know what she looks like.

Been wanting to check this place out since we just moved to the area. Went in today and eventually a girl with short hair asked us if we needed a table. She said “take a seat anywhere and some one will wait on you.” We sat down at one of the tables to the right inside. 5 min past and no one came. We kept looking around waiting for someone to give us a menu or anything. 4 min later a waitress came by to put sharing plates and silverware on the table and asked us if we needed anything. Told her we need a menu. The girl disappeared. 5 min later a bust boy came and asked us if we needed anything and if he could bring us waters, told him we needed menus and waters would be nice. Finally got menus, the bust boy brought it to us. Was so excited there was so many things that looked good. We were ready to order and have some drinks! Bust boy came back and gave us waters, told us his recommendations but said unfortunately he was just a bust boy and that a waitress will come. 5 min later no one came so we closed the menus and put them to the side of the table thinking maybe they don’t think we’re ready to order. Still no one came. One of the waitress her hair kind of up and a little blonde smiled and said hi but then walked right past our table. By this time my boyfriend was over it but since I really wanted to try this place we agreed on waiting 10 more minutes to see if anyone would come wait on us. No one came. Other tables came and were already getting served drinks but no one ever came to wait on us. Waitresses walked passed us so many times not making eye contact with either of us. Debated on asking for a manager but that just isn’t us. 10 minutes came and still no one came and we decided to leave. On our way out the short haired girl said bye to us. But did you not even notice you just said hi to us about 25 min ago and told us to have a seat wherever? So disappointed in the service. So many opportunities for them to make it right. The only reason why we decided to stay that long was because of the nice bust boy giving us hope that a waitress would finally come. Will be making sure to tell our friends to not waste their time going to this establishment. If you’re reading this do yourselves a favor and go someplace else like Zandras, mariachis, Siam classic, monza- so many other places that will service you within...

I've had many good meals at this place and while I did order takeout a couple of times during COVID this was my first time eating inside since restrictions lifted. First the food, I tried the oyster po'boy and had I noticed that it was on ciabatta I probably wouldn't have. It's an insane choice for a po'boy. ?IT's already pretty dense and heavy bread and you're adding fried seafood too it. It's just a dense heavy mess. Also since it's bread that's completely sliced through it's very difficult to eat. I spent half my meal trying to stuff oysters back into the sandwich. There's a reason po'boys are generally served on a good baguette. Even a decent sub roll would be a much better choice. As for the oysters themselves, they were nice and plump, but they were absolutely the soggiest fired oysters I've ever had. Biting into them you'd have no idea they were fried if you hadn't seen the soggy batter. My dining companion had the lobster roll. She said it was ok but it was way overdressed with mayonnaise. Still with the disappointing sandwiches I might have given them two-and-a-half to three stars, the fried pickles were decent and the watermelon margaritas were good, I dropped the score for rude treatment after the fact. I had left my prescription sunglasses on the table and didn't realize until I was ready to drive somewhere today and they weren't in my car. I knew I had left them at the restaurant because I hadn't been anywhere else I would have worn them. I called and told whoever answered the phone that I had left my sunglasses there and he immediately said, "I don't see them", obviously not taking the time to check or ask anybody about them and just hung up on me. I drove to the restaurant and a waitress was very helpful even though she had no concept if they had a protocol for dealing with left behind items. She said she'd check with our server when he came in and offered to take my number but I just told her I'd stop back in 20 minutes when he was supposed to be in. When I returned she had found my glasses. I get it. It's on my for leaving my glasses behind, totally my fault, but that's no excuse for the rude, brusque brushoff...
