I recently visited Peppers Indian Cuisine, and my experience was a mix of disappointment and concern. Here’s a breakdown of my visit:
Dining Timings: I arrived at 2:08 PM, and despite the closing time being 2:30 PM, I was told I had to place my order within 5 minutes or the kitchen would close. When I returned at 2:10 PM, The staff was busy, didn't notice me until 2:12 and the I was denied dine-in service entirely. Many other restaurant allow entry by the closing time, this one closes before the mentioned closing time. It think the restaurant should rectify the closing time to 2:10 pm.
Buffet Experience: I decided to try their evening buffet, priced at $14.99+tax per head (kids under 5 were not charged). While the buffet included a live Dosa counter (best thing that I observed), the overall food quality left much to be desired. This restaurant prefers number of items in the buffet over quality of the food.
Appetizers: A variety of 8 appetizers were available, but most were over-fried, including baby corn and mushrooms. What was labeled as "mysore bonda" turned out to be bread pakoda, and the "vada" was strangely smooth in texture, which I believe was made with maida instead of urad dal.
Main Courses: The biryani felt more like flavored rice with curd-coated veggies. Surprisingly, there were no naan options, but instead puri bhaji was served.
Desserts: The dessert section lacked staples like ice cream or gulab jamun. The options were bread halwa (essentially bread in sugar syrup) and pineapple kesari, which was decent but not impressive.
Vegetarian Unfriendliness: The buffet arrangement was extremely disappointing for vegetarians. Partitioned chafing dishes contained both vegetarian and non-vegetarian items, such as paneer tikka masala sharing a dish with chicken curry, and veg biryani with chicken biryani. This made it impossible to guarantee there was no cross-contamination, as shared serving spoons could easily mix the dishes.
General Observations:
The food quality was inconsistent, with over-fried items dominating the appetizers. There were no salads. I’ve never seen grated paneer used in "paneer tikka masala" at any other Indian restaurant.
Final Thoughts: Peppers Indian Cuisine has potential, but the current setup and quality are far below expectations. For vegetarians, this is a no-go due to the lack of separation between vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. While the buffet price is reasonable, the food quality and dining experience left much...
Read moreMy friend and I, both pregnant, visited Peppers Indian Cuisine, Manchester for the Thursday night dosa buffet (3/20/2025) as we were craving dosa. Unfortunately, we were deeply disappointed by our experience. While eating the uththappam, I noticed something hard and metallic in my mouth, and upon inspection, I found a large metal nail in the food. This was extremely concerning, especially given our condition. We immediately notified the staff, but the response was underwhelming. A staff member took my plate with the nail in it and showed it to another employee before they both went to the kitchen. We waited for some time, hoping for an explanation, but they returned to their duties without so much as an apology or any follow-up. We were left waiting without any clear communication. Eventually, we approached them to inquire further, and the staff explained that they believed the nail might have come from the machine used to make the uththappam batter. I requested that they remove the remaining uththappam from the buffet, and they told us it had already been removed, though I’m unsure if that was actually done. Throughout the entire ordeal, the staff showed little concern for the situation. What was most alarming to us was that, by the time this occurred, there were children dining with their parents. We couldn’t help but worry about what could have happened if a child had unknowingly swallowed the nail. Thankfully, our children stayed home that evening, but this experience raised serious concerns. While we understand that accidents can happen, the safety and well-being of customers should always come first. Unfortunately, the lack of care and attention to this matter has left us hesitant to return to this restaurant in the future and please be mindful if you are planning to get food...
Read moreMy friend and I visited The Peppers restaurant last night (3/21/2025) for their Dosa buffet dinner. We are both expectant mothers. However, the experience we had was extremely appalling. My friend had an Uthappam (A rice pancake) and she felt something hard in her mouth. When she took it out it was a large metal nail and we were horrified. Immediately we called one of the employees and she took the plate away to the kitchen area and did not return for at least 15 minutes. No apology, no surprise, nothing! Later she returned, and resumed her tasks as usual and we watched her. Finally we walked up to her and another one of the employees as they did not even have the courtesy to walk to us and apologize, let alone explain what happened. When we inquired, they were dumb founded with a vague explanation that this could have been a nail from one of their batter mixers. I could not understand how they could just go about their business at least without throwing the left over Utappams. (Which they promised to do, I don't think that they really did) We were astonished at their service. We are pregnant, if there were some sort of complications and my friend had accidentally swallowed the nail, I wonder how the staff would have reacted at all. Let alone us, there were tiny kids at the restaurant last night, what would have happened if they chewed on a nail and swallowed it? Another concern we had was how clean is their food? If they failed to notice a such a large nail in their Utappam batter, what else could they be missing out on? At least good customer service with a sincere apology could have been appreciated. Not...
