My husband and I have been trying different Mexican restaurants and Mexican food trucks around Maryland once a week just for fun. Yesterday, we decided to try this spot. There are street parking spots in front of the place, so finding a place for the car was pretty easy.
The place was empty, and the women who took care of us had a bit of a broken English. When she find out we could communicate in Spanish she delivered every dish flawlessly explaining us every story behind the choices we ordered. (I’m from Costa Rica)
Her personal touch gave every dish a rich cultural knowledge that made the entire experience memorable. She explained us how they grow their peppers and herbs from seeds in special rooms in their house, and how the hot peppers they use are unique to their home town back in Mexico.
The food was delicious beyond words, but having her explaining every dish background and their humble beginnings made us feel like we had a very unique authentic Mexican experience.
Her restaurant sauce similar to the typical Macha spicy sauce comes from a long secret family recipe pass down through generations. Needless to say, it was so good we ordered more to take home.
Usually, we don’t ordered desserts, but the food was so good we couldn’t help to wonder about the desserts. We took home a Choco-flan and some churros. Oh man, I regret not getting more.
Obviously, she is very passionate about her food, and the way she holds their Mexican roots close to their hearts is ridiculously adorable.
I failed to ask her name, but this ma’am just got herself two loyal customers.
Now, it’s gonna be hard to find another Mexican restaurant who holds the same standards and flavors as La Jarochita.
They skyrocketed our expectations and knowledge about what authentic Mexican food...

Read moreThe owner is genuinely sweet, friendly, and attentive, and her authentic Mexican recipes handed down from her mother are tops! I had a cheese & jalopeño tamale and the enchiladas Verdes w/rice & beans. My wife had a quesadilla w/rice & beans. The freshly made green and red salsas were EXCELLENT, as was the Tres Leches cake we shared for dessert. We both had the Mexican Mango sodas in bottles that were also very good! This is a small, quaint, authentic family friendly Mexican atmosphere, with upbeat Mexican tunes in the background and festive hand cut-outs decorating the dining area. Definitely will be back with...
