Went to Shorty's today. Ordered the FUEGO TOT OF THE MOMENT as an appetizer and the ROYALE WITH CHEESE with fries.
The food was less than impressive.
Given that the "Tot of the moment" states "Hectorâs everchanging Fuego Tater Tot creation. Always a crowd favorite. Ask your server what Hector is cooking today!" I figured maybe it was something different everyday, so I asked out waitstaff what it was and all I got for an answer was "It's spicy tater tots". After that brief explanation I was expecting some elevated type tater tot with some spices in them making them special. What they turned out to be was a dish of tater tots with mozzarella, blue cheese and buffalo sauce poured on top of them. Not tater tots tossed in buffalo sauce then cooked. it was all just on top before they were cooked, and for the most part the buffalo sauce was only on half the dish.
As for the burger, it was supposed to be "An âOld Timeâ burger with American cheese, Applewood bacon, lettuce, tomato, crispy onions, and special sauce". There was no sauce on it as far as I could tell and the "crispy onions" (also called onion straws in some places, for clarification) were about as crispy as a sea cucumber. They looked and tasted like they were a couple of days old and had been microwaved shortly before serving.
I will say that I did like the fires. They had that coating on them that Burger King fries do and I like. They could have been cooked a little longer I think but that is more of a personal preference. Other than the poor description of the tots, I felt our waitstaff was polite and attentive. Basically it felt like the place was tired and trying to keep up with the times but failing, perhaps their menu is too large to keep up with because the cook staff clearly can't keep up or just don't really...
Read moreMy family and I met @ Manchester location after my niece's graduation from college on Saturday, 5/14/16. Almost everything was great. We have been going to Shorty's for many years. I have ALWAYS ordered the combo fajitas. I have never been disappointed with food, service or staff. We have had many family celebrations @ several of the locations. This time I ordered the Shrimp Tacos off the "Daily Specials" menu. Thought I would give something else on the menu a try.
What a disappointment. The plate included three shrimp tacos. Looked good. Smelled good. Tasted good, but where were the shrimp? After 3 bites and not one of them having anything of a shrimp taste, I opened it up. There was only 1 shrimp in it. I opened the other two tacos, the first had only 1 shrimp, AGAIN???, and the other had 2. ( 100% improvement ). This was another learning experience. I should have asked how many shrimp in each taco. But, I assumed... (know what's said about ASS.U.ME) ....there would have been 3 or 4 in each taco. No way did I think there would only be 4 shrimp for all 3 tacos. ??? Very disappointed. But, of all the many times I have been to Shorty's, with family or friends, I will continue to meet for our special occasions and celebrations. I'll just try to ask questions before I order something other than my usual. Every other visit @ Shorty's has always been a five star experience. No complaints.
Sincerely, Dottie...
Read moreWe wanted to find a new place to go for happy hour. We chose shortys unfortunately. We asked our waitress for the happy hour menu and we were directed to scan a QR code which showed us a long 20 page list of drinks with no food options. We asked the waitress where the happy hour food and drinks were and she found a list somewhere up on the bar but seemed like it was hard to find like they never pulled it out before. We ordered two happy hour margaritas which were heavily watered down and had so much ice. We got fries which were good. We decided after the watered down drinks to order two of the âshortys favoriteâ margaritas. One came in a tall water glass and the other in a small short glass. We kindly asked the waitress why the difference in size and she said âlime juiceâ. We didnât understand what she meant by lime juice and she proceeded to get frustrated and said the small one had one shot of lime juice and the taller one had more. We were still confused but just told her it was ok. She proceeded to walk away shaking her head and mumbling under her breath and talking to other staff with attitude. We asked to speak to manager who compensated the small drink. Needless to say we will not be returning and if your looking for good happy hour that does not disappoint and has service you need to go...
