My wife and I are foodies and we have been wanting to try this place. We opted to eat early due to the fact we had our 14-month daughter with us. I ordered a beer from their lackluster beer selection. The wine seemed to be the big sellers here so I understood that. We ordered a spinach and artichoke dip, a small cheese pizza for the little one and a 14in pizza for us.
The spinach and artichoke dip was amazing. We really enjoyed it and figured that the rest of the food would be up to the same standard. On the pizza...the crust was great (great flavor and crunchy) their sauce was great too. Where the pizza fell short was in the cheese. The more we chewed the cheese the more rubbery it became. This usually means that they are opting for cheaper cheese which has a high silica content instead of a modified cornstarch to prevent caking. Even with the chewy cheese, the flavors of the pizza were pretty good. Where everything fell apart was in the service.
There's an old saying... If you ever want to make someone feel bad, make them feel forgotten. Which is what these servers did. Right before our meal concluded several customers came in and we're ordering wine as well as food (meaning bigger tips for the waiters) After our meal concluded we sat there waiting patiently for roughly about 15 to 20 minutes. Our server then decided to come by and asked us if we need anything else at this point we just wanted our check and a box so we could leave. After waiting around for an additional 10 or 15 minutes my little daughter at this point was really starting to get antsy. My wife took her to the car because we figured since we waited around for this long it shouldn't take much longer. After waiting for an additional 10 minutes I stood up had to go up to the register and actually demand that somebody take care of my check. The person at the register seemed flabbergasted and a little confused as to what was going on. After explaining to him the situation he then made me wait for the other server to become available for him to process the payment. After a couple of minutes, my server comes up looking a little confused as to why he was summoned there. I then looked at him and said my check needs to be paid I've been waiting around for over 25 minutes. At this point it dawned on him what he did and I basically grabbed the check from the person behind the counter and handed it to him I said please process this. The owner saw what was going on and very quickly took the check, handed me my card, and told me that the dinner was on them tonight. And that they were sorry this happened.
I don't usually make it my job to complain to the point of getting free food... But after waiting that long I was so angry I didn't feel like arguing with anybody. I grabbed my card from the manager and walked out. What also had me annoyed, as well as my wife, was the manager was seeing everything that was going on and was completely oblivious to what was happening. The food was okay but the prices they are charging for that dining experience were a little steep. Maybe you'll have a better time at their establishment... As for my family... we...
Read moreNice atmosphere, food was pretty good, all was going fairly well till we got the check for our lunch. My husband had ordered a cauliflower crust pizza. When placing the order he asked the waitress how many toppings were included, she said he could choose as many as he wanted. He got all of the vegetable topping options. When the bill came, each topping was a $2 charge and turned a $12 pizza into a $30 pizza. We called the waitress over and said we would pay the bill, but a $30 pizza-before we could say more, she cut us off and said it says the price on the menu (obviously we missed that when we asked how many toppings were included). She was so quick to cut us off and come back with it’s your own fault that I had the distinct feeling we were just two of many people who have had this issue. I still don’t see where it clearly says $2/topping when looking at the online menu. Very disappointing. This place is close to home and we were envisioning making it a routine lunch stop. $64 lunches are a bit steep and we’d prefer a meal without attitude...
Read moreWonderful restaurant with many artistic different types of cuisine! Everything complimenting each other. Started with drinks that were nicely done. The Sazerac was originally done, specifically by names of liquors. Wines were enjoyed by some. Appetizer were had the grape leaf wrapped around rice and vegetables, they were delicious and the four spinach and feta filled filo dough, drizzled with pomegranate molasses sauce and served with a cicak sauce. Others enjoyed their supreme loaded pizza! And salads. Great service and relaxing service. No rushing the customer! Was really nice! Have already shared your information to a group of people I know between, Mandeville, Maddisonville, Covington and great friends in Abita Springs. People don't mind traveling to a restaurant when it is got it all! Great atmosphere, fantastic service, good bar tender, great food...
