Update: We have tried this place a second time. We had a generally good experience. We had the homemade roast beef sandwich and the shrimp remoullade sandwich. Both were particularly tasty and what you would expect from a taste perspective. I will say that neither sandwich was filled a we would have expected. I took a specific bite and showed my wife that no today beef was exposed.
I really love what this place is to most that come here. To me it's just a nice place to have a meal but it doesn't stand out. People LOVE this place so I am missing something. Rating is mostly the same, but I did upgrade the service to 4 stars.
Original post. This is our first time here and this is a tough one. I was expecting really good things, but I can only report on our one and only visit so far. I was considering between 3 and 4 stars and only gave it four stars based on the fact that this could be much better than it was.
First thing you notice is the brightly painted insides and outsides. Judging strictly by the painting and artwork you would guess that this is a seaside restaurant.
When we got there we had a 20 minute wait as expected. 11:00 a.m. on Sundays should be a busy time for any restaurant that is worth it for brunch. The waitress was totally nice and did a good job. I will note that I gave the service only three stars as it took 35 to 40 minutes to get our plate after we ordered. The waitress came out and explained that somebody in the kitchen had a reason to leave so I understand why this happened but it still happened. It's my opinion that service on Google Maps is everything not just your server.
The menu has so many items on it that it was tough to choose. I made probably a bad choice to judge a place on as I chose the grilliades and grits.
The grilliades were pretty good. The gravy had excellent flavor and the meat itself was nice size but not very tasty. The grits were well prepared and flavorful. In addition, I had the grilled biscuit which I had high expectations for but the grill part was barely even noticeable. The biscuit was fluffy and enjoyable. My wife had eggs Benedict on a biscuit and she enjoyed that thoroughly the poached egg and the hollandaise sauce were just right.
We will return and I hope things will be better and I'll order something more typical to confirm the 4...
Read moreI visited this spot three times before ultimately deciding not to return. Each visit was for takeout. Unfortunately, the customer service declined with each visit.
On my first visit, the hospitality was subpar. The second time, it was just okay. However, my third and final visit was unacceptable. I noticed my to-go order sitting unattended for about five minutes before it was finally bagged. When I asked my server for two syrups, she only brought one without acknowledging my request. Thinking she hadn’t heard me, I asked again. She responded rudely, saying she heard me but was speaking to someone else—despite not making eye contact or acknowledging me at all. Her tone and body language were unprofessional and dismissive.
When I asked to speak with a manager, she simply set down the second syrup and walked away. I waited patiently and asked another server, who was kind and understanding, to help me. That server relayed the situation, and eventually, a woman approached and identified herself as the manager. Rather than addressing the issue respectfully, she told me I wouldn’t be refunded because the kitchen had already prepared the food. I explained that I was not willing to spend money at a place where I was treated poorly. After some back and forth, she agreed to issue the refund.
While the food may be good, the customer service is consistently lacking. Based on my experience, I do not recommend this...
Read moreWe stopped here for brunch on our scenic drive across the causeway from New Orleans. We’re so glad we did! The restaurant was super bright and cheerful and all the servers were great.
I had the Bananas Foster Waffle with a side of bacon. My husband had a stack of regular Pancakes and a double order of Biscuits and Gravy.
My waffle was amazing. It came out hot and the sauce was tasty and sweet. Highly recommend for those with a sweet tooth. The bacon was okay. It was softer than my personal preference, but the taste was pretty good anyway.
The pancakes and B&G were both bigger than my husband was expecting. He said that they were probably up near the best pancakes he’s ever had. The server was amazing. He was just getting done saying to me that he wished he had more syrup, when the server showed up with more. The biscuits and gravy were very tasty too. He didn’t need to add any additional salt and pepper like he normally does.
The one negative/disappointment was the orange juice. It was on the spendy side and just tasted like regular, run of the mill OJ. We expected a bit more...
