Hello everyone,
I’m writing this because I had a terrible experience due to a waitress with a back tattoo working there. She acted extremely racist towards me just because of my accent and had me kicked out for no reason. I was just having a good time with my friend, and despite having an open tab that wasn’t bad at all compared to the average there, she suddenly came up to me, staring. Naturally, I asked, “Hey, are you okay? Do you need anything?” That’s all I said, but then she went to security and must have said something because the security guy came over, telling us to move to another spot like it was some kind of joke.
It made no sense because everyone else was standing, and the place he told us to go was no different from where we were. She was really rude while doing this, and I felt humiliated in front of everyone there. After that, I moved near the bar’s exit to finish my drink, and she came over again. Trying to be a gentleman, I said, “I think there’s been a misunderstanding, but I’m still sorry,” despite the way she treated me. And what did she do? She complained to the security guy again and had both me and my friend kicked out.
I was humiliated in front of everyone. It was very clearly a case of racism, and I’m in touch with a few people who witnessed it. I’m going to sue both her and the establishment. I’m an engineer, I own my own business in this country, pay my taxes regularly, and follow the rules. I’ve been to many restaurants and bars around the world, and I’ve never been subjected to such bad treatment or racism. I feel really bad and humiliated. NO to all forms...
Read moreShellbacks in Manhattan Beach, CA is truly a gem of a spot that you must check out! This beach dive bar is the perfect destination for anyone looking to relax and enjoy some great food and drinks with an amazing view. The vibe is laid-back and just-off-the-beach casual, making it a great spot to unwind after a long day in the sun, or to catch up with friends.
One of the best things about Shellbacks is the amazing views of the pier, which you can enjoy if sitting at a window table. And with plenty of parking options nearby, it's easy to get here and start your visit off right.
Once you arrive, you'll find a menu that offers a lot of great options, both for food and drinks. We tried the blackened Mahi Mahi sandwich, and grilled shrimp and fish tacos from the appetizer menu, and both were absolutely delicious. The flavors were bold and fresh, and the portions were just right.
And speaking of drinks, the bar menu is equally impressive. We had a Mayberry IPA and a Blue Moon beer, both of which were perfect for sipping while taking in the view. There are plenty of other options to choose from as well, so you're sure to find something that suits your tastes.
Overall, I can't recommend Shellbacks enough. It's got everything you could want in a beach dive bar, from great food and drinks to a relaxing atmosphere and stunning views. So if you're in the Manhattan Beach area, be sure to...
Read moreI can't praise this place enough. First of all, the staff is amazing, extra friendly, genuine, helpful, and made the lunch experience with the family fantastic. Our server was absolutely fantastic. You could tell he really did want to work there and was happy to be doing so. I even asked another server who had brought us drinks where a good tackle shop was and he said he didn't know, but would find out. Even though I told him not to worry it was no big deal, he returned 2 minutes later with a couple places to go.
Even if the food was subpar, the atmosphere of a dive bar by the beach with a staff like that would have still meant 5 stars, but the food was absolutely fantastic. We had a pitcher of beer and it was the coldest tap beer I've ever had...the sign of a good bar. We got their famous chicken tenders and they were outstanding. We got a couple burgers and some tacos, and everything was extremely delicious, fresh, hot, and made with care.
I highly recommend this place and can't praise the staff enough. This place has an energy that can't be matched, and we have found our...
