So I needed to take some time to process how to make this update due to the reaction of the owner. I posted this review to have the owner call me two hours later to tell me he read the review and that I made the cashier (who was very nice to me by the way, two points to her) uncomfortable and did some mental gymnastics saying a conversation we had was about "pregnancy"? I guess he called the credit card company just to get my phone number to tell me not to come back. (which after that like I'd ever go there again) Then to make another review contradicting my original post in its format.
Highly creepy and unprofessional reaction to my criticism.
Original post: OK, this place doesn't suck totally, BUT the owner needs to rethink a lot about the business. What kind of ice cream place doesn't give samples of flavors? (Not one with faith in his product) How much money are you losing on prepackaged ice cream? (Yeah no waffle cones or scoops here) Greet everyone like you want to be my friend. (The owner walked right past me and kept doing his thing) So from the other reviews yes it is creamy ice cream and he is using whole milk watching him unloading the car. But from the the one flavor I bought (10 dollars a pint mind you) it was "meh" super sugary and frozen rock hard I had to bring it home to give it time to thaw before I tasted it. It's a 5 min walk from my family's house so that was the only plus I had for it. Otherwise I won't come back...
Read moreI should start by giving credit where credit is due; the flavor of the ice cream is excellent. You've really got a powerhouse creative mind on your mixes, and that is what is driving your success. A couple of things though, and some you may already know. Your brick and mortar is away from the road and I had to double back because I missed it the first time. You don't have much in the way of signage announcing your business, and you lose passive income in that way. A street side sign would help! Also, not having a way to consume your ice cream right there is odd. If you prefer to sell your product in take home containers, it may behoove you to forgo a store front altogether and sell to local grocery stores. Your product is good, but if your audience isn't the typical "I want a cone or cup of ice cream in a shop" kind of customer, and the store front is really just a place to make ice cream, thats a lot of rent for the cause. I did miss the experience of eating an ice cream cone in the shop. One more thing, we hd to transport the ice cream about 15 minutes away and because of that the plastic sort of restaurant grade containers were not cutting it in this heat. Insulated tubs would be a HUGE help to folks who love your product, especially if take-home is your target market! I really look forward to seeing this business grow because holy cow this stuff is special....
Read moreI thought the other reviews were just being overdramatic. But we were in the area and stopped by to check it out. After one bite, my wife and I looked at each other in agreement, no joke among the BEST ICE CREAM WE'VE EVER HAD. Clearly the team really puts a lot of thought and pride into their flavors. It shows, truly top-notch ice cream. Very different (in a good way) from typical ice cream that you may find at other places. I don't even typically leave reviews, but it was so good I almost turned the car around to go tell them how great it was and to say "thank you" for bringing great ice cream to Mansfield. Please support this local business, not because they need your charity, but really because they're among the best in the whole DFW area. I wish the location had more visibility, but their exceptional customer service (attentiveness, explanation, recommendation, professionalism, friendliness, treatment of our kiddos), interesting and memorable selection of flavors, reasonable prices, and amazing taste, all more than make up for the nondescript location (though the interior decor and vibe is also awesome). We'll be coming back, telling our friends, and buying gift cards. This place has honed their craft so impressively well, they need to be around for years to come. Check it out; you'll be...
