Sad to say, we weren't really impressed. This wasn't our first time here. We use to come to the former Yukimi's all the time and have been here once after the new owners took over but it had been a while and last night was our anniversary so we decided to take our kids out with us for a nice dinner. We spent a little over $300 including tip which is understandable considering the type of dinner for four, appetizers and drinks. Our Chef was nice and made the experience fun but when you're spending that amount of money there are things that need to be. When we first got there we were seated at a table that already had two people sitting. I understand consolidating with this type of a restaurant but these people had clearly been seated for a while since they already had their soup, salad, drinks and appetizers. Not even two minutes after we were seated our waitress approached and asked what we would like to drink and if we were ready to order. Drinks, great but we haven't even opened our menus. We felt rushed and quickly made our food decisions. Immediately after placing our food order our drinks salad and soup came out followed by the chef. Our appetizers arrived after food was already on our plates. The whole experience for us seemed rushed. The quality of the food was okay but a bit bland and not as good as the former Yukimi's. On top of this the place was HOT, I assumed that it was because of the burners but when my wife used the restroom she said that it was really hot in there as well which means the air wasn't on. She also noted that the bathrooms weren't the cleanest and the toilet felt like it was going to "fall over". All in all it wasn't a bad experience but again, when you are spending this amount of money the little...
Read moreThis place has a nightmare service and hidden gratuity in the form on fine print on the menu. The chef came & made our food and we thanked him as we started eating. After cleaning up his area & he stuck around for about 3 minutes after cleaning until we realized he’s waiting for tip. So i pulled my wallet out & gave him $20. For the rest of our entire dining the waiters were nowhere in sight. My boyfriend had to call them over to ask for the receipt. When they came they charged us 15% gratuity which came out to an additional $24. I spoke to the manager & requested her to remove the additional gratuity since we already paid $20 to the chef & informed her that due to the lack of customer service I do not wish to pay gratuity. She disregarded my concerns and informed me that I’m obligated to pay gratuity because it will be split among all the workers in the restaurant and that whether they served me or not isn’t their problem. She then showed me the menu where in fine print it says we have to pay 15% gratuity. My boyfriend paid it despite my frustration and as we’re leaving the restaurant the manger chases us down to our car accusing us of having left without paying…but I signed the receipt in front of her and left it on the table. After going back & forth with her several times she finally actually took the time to look at our table & realized we had left the receipt on the table as we mentioned. Also on a side note their napkins are literally complete rags that have runs in them with a very harsh stench. Overall the service (or lack there of) was extremely mediocre to begin with & it definitely got worse as our dinner was coming to an end. PLEASE FIND A BETTER RESTAURANT IF YOURE INTO A SEMIDECENT...
Read moreThe food was great and just based on food alone, they would get 4-5 stars. TheService was absolutely TERRIBLE! Fist off our server was annoyed we had six kids and only 5 adults. She kept a complaining and sheanother server had to tell her to shhhh. Second, the server was tapping her pencil when I was trying to find a roll on the huge menu with no shrimp because of my allergy (she offered no help at all). Third when she delivered our drinks with no straws, I asked for straws but she told me later, even though she had straws in her pocket. After waiting 15 minutes while she just stood by the cash register the whole time, I finally had to get up and go ask for straws. Fourth, we had hair in our veggies (but they remade them I. The kitchen and brought them out). Fifth, I had to get up again to go ask another server if we could have drink refills. Our server NEVER came back to our table after taking our order. Last, I had to eat my roll with my fingers because I didn’t have silverware of chopsticks and couldn’t track down help, and they didn’t bother getting up for a third time. Definitely not the kinds of service you expect when paying over $250 for 9 people and that doesn’t even include what my son and his girlfriend ordered! Plus the tip is s included!!! The kids love Tepoabyaki, and we were there to celebrate my nieces 11th birthday. Next year we will drive back out to Stockton and stick to Domo’s where we get great service.
I will say the other server that was there was really sweet! Cooks was very nice and so was greater. It’s sad one employee ruined the whole experience. Terrible enough I’ll never be back, but I may consider ordering sushi to go - my roll was...
