We went for Valentines Day Dinner, If I could leave a negative review for the service, I would.
At the beginning of our dinner, the hostess was really disorganized (I honestly suspect she was under the influence of alcohol) and could not find our reservation, her name was Beth.
She found it, we were able to be seated pretty quickly, but it was in the corner of the restaurant near the bar, so I am not sure if that is why we were unattended the entire time, but it's what ended up happening.
When we got sat, we waited for a little bit and then our waitress came over, she gave us a quick run down of the menu and how it works since we had never dined there before, talked about drinks and let us know our sides would be coming soon and where to find the salad bar. Standard, and generally helpful.
We went to the salad bar and came back, no waters, no second plates for the meat that was being served (as our waitress told us we would be given). We started to eat and the meat servers came around so we just took the meat on our salad bar plates as best we could, until a meat server gave us both additional plates because our waitress was no where to be found.
I wanted to give a shoutout to the meat servers; the ones that actually came around and give you the meats, because they were working their butts off. They were kind, quick, professional, and overall what kept us from walking out. The waitress was no where to be found throughout our meal, and the hostesses turned out to be mostly bullies.
We ate and were about done with our salad bar plates and our first drink arrived. The one for my husband came much later. We kept eating and our waitress was literally no where to be found. She disappeared and no one took over for her. Some of the hostesses appeared to be attending to other tables around us, but for whatever reason we were ignored. I tried getting Camilia's attention but she didn't help.
After I am not sure how long, Beth the hostess came to our table after we were given waters to fill up my husbands cup. I asked her what sides typically came with the meal because I wasn't sure if you had to pay extra for the bread. In the most condescending way, she looked at the plates that were at our table (one of them was empty because we ate it all) and said "those ones" (i.e. how do you even know what sides we got because they were eaten..) I asked her what about bread? She said oh yeah... that must be baking in the oven right now. I will check on that for you. She never came back for bread. It was weird because the tables literally next to us just got served bread, so I am unsure why we were skipped before they had to make more when we had been there for quite some time.
Our waitress was not present for the first half of the meal- we didn't get our waters, meat plates, sides or drinks from the bar basically until 1/2 through the meal. I was obviously displeased, but I am not one to be rude to servers because what is the point? I just stopped responding to them when they came to our table, my husband communicated for us. I think they caught on, because Beth, Liney (or Linley I am not sure) she has short black hair, and Camilia stood at the hostess stand and stared at me, giving me dirty looks, looking at me (all together in the group of three) and were laughing. My husband saw it too, so I know it wasn't just me. They were being outright rude and giving mean girl high school vibes. I've never seen a group of 50+ year olds standing like that attempting to intimidate a younger customer at a restaurant that I am paying quite a lot for. Couldn't tell you about the desserts because we left due to them making us feel uncomfortable. I would be embarrassed if those women were representing as the face of my restaurant, get them out of there. Would return if they were not there. Look at the other reviews about the service here, I am not alone being forgotten about. You pay too much here for that...
Read moreI group of us who used to work together decided to meet up and catch up over food stopped here for dinner on the 13th. At first, I was a bit skeptical because I have never heard of this churrascaria but then again I don't venture out to this area much. The location has ample parking and it's located right in the center and has many lit signs marking the entrance. The decore at the entrance is followed by good aromas of roasted meats.
We arrived on an extremely busy night and there were several very large parties including one of over 30 people. It took a little while to get going but it gave us some time to try some of the other things I normally don't try such as the other meats and the cheeses. Their meat selection was very good and they had this incredible spicy cheese that went well with almost anything. The place was clean as well as the bathrooms considering the amount of people in the place.
The wine-by-the-glass selection was very good as well. The service started rocky for the first part due to the large parties but it gave us time to catch up then after a bit we had no issues. I have eaten at many fritangas, churrascarias, and such and the last location I ate at was Bullvinos I love Bullvinos but the chefs here seem to have found a way to lock in the flavors more into the meats. Perhaps a different seasoning method, different cooking techniques or maybe it's just the preparation of the meats but all of us found the meats to hold much more of the flavors. There was not one type of meet we didn't like and generally, there are a few that I don't like due to being cooked too dry or just the flavors.
Even the pineapple here was fabulous and I generally don't like the pineapple anywhere. To me, the pineapple is too burnt always or not burned enough so it's gooey. While enjoying our meals we got the pleasure of meeting a few of the servers then we were shocked to meet to owner who was hard at work filling every single open role to make her business work. Eliane was cooking and serving meats at the time and busy at it. A friend of mine wanted to try the creme brulee so we tried it and she enjoyed it very much. She ate the whole thing by herself. We tried the Brazilian Flan was creamy and soft as expected and much tastier than some other types of flans made in other South and Central American countries.
The final thing we tasted I think was the papaya cream. I could be wrong and if correct I will change this. But it was amazing. It had the right amount of sweetness to it then all of a sudden you hit with a hint of tartness. This was absolutely divine!
Thank you, Eliane and staff for the...
Read moreFantastic is not a big enough word to describe how good the food, the service, and ambiance are at Grill Hall Brazilian Steakhouse in Maple Grove.
We were greeted at the door by wonderful host with a very friendly smile. We were asked where we would like to sit, and were quickly taken to a nice quite table.
We started with a nice bottle of wine and our hostess explained how the process works as this is a Brazilian Steakhouse. For those who've never been, a Brazilian Steakhouse is usually all you can eat and the various proteins. primarily beef, but also lamb and chicken, are brought fresh from the kitchen right to the table on spits. This continues until you are full!
The food at Grill Hall is delicious. The meat is flavorful, and spiced just right. There is also a salad bar with additional Brazilian fare like peppers, sliced meats, cheeses, and vegetables.
The best part, even above the delicious food, was the personal and attentive service provided by our waitress, and hosts: Gabriel, Andriana, and Gabrielle (apologies if these names are spelled incorrectly). They made sure we were happy with our orders, helped answer questions about various dishes and items, and were sincere in caring that we were completely satisfied.
At the end of our meal we were greeted by the owner of Grill Hall, Elaine, who was extremely nice and very thankful for our patronage. We made sure to let her know what a great establishment she had and the great service being provided by top level restaurant professionals under her leadership.
Final thoughts: Grill Hall is a "must go to" for your "steak and meat night" out.
It's right off US 169 on 63rd in Southern Maple Grove just north of Plymouth. You won't see it from the highway and unfortunate Bridge work further obstructs the view, but fortunately doesn't interfere with the entrance to a very spacious parking lot out front ofcthe restaurant. It is nested in the middle of a V-shaped mini-strip-mall, across the street from a gas station at the top of the off-ramp on 63rd off of US 169, a mile or so south of I-694/94.
This is a #1 recommended location, worthy of a short drive from downtown MPLS, and even worth the drive from as far east as St. Paul.
Check out and dine at the Grill House Brazilian Steakhouse in Maple Grove, you will not regret that you did!
